Mustard cheese and more stretching
There is snow on the tv right now. Old snow, Dad and Jake are watching the Chicago Bears’ last winning game from last season. They are so cute. There is a Lexi sleeping on the recliner, a Grace sitting on Jake’s computer chair looking ready to pounch at anything, and a Mowgli curled up and sleeping on my lap. I am surrounded by adorable and love and life is awesome.
Saturday, Jake worked all day. We were expecting (and had been told) that he would only work a half-day, so we had plans for the afternoon. Plans that involved going out to eat. So none of us had breakfast. Or lunch, as it turned out. Jake worked until 3:30, and by then I couldn’t be bothered driving to New Haven, so our first foods were chicken soft tacos for dinner at 5pm. I felt so guilty starving my husband and my father like that, but neither really seemed to care.
Today we actually went to New Haven. I had looked how to get to Brazi’s, where we had eaten a few months ago with Matt and Lisa, and I was sure I knew the way, so I didn’t put the address in my GPS. Big mistake. We got to the Yale New Haven hospital (because that was something on the way, and so we showed Dad where all of Jake’s stuff happened) which I did know how to get to. And then I realised… even though it was just "quickly get on the highway and then get straight off at the next exit and we are there!" when we went that other time… I was following Matt and NOT paying attention to where I had to go.
But I had my GPS, so I didn’t feel lost. I felt confident enough to try and turn around and find out where I missed my turn or took the wrong turn or whatever happened. Got rather lost doing that. So we got the GPS out and told it to take us back to the hospital, because I knew where I had gone wrong, apparently.
Got lost again. Thankfully I have internet on my phone so I could find the address to the place we wanted to go and make the GPS tell us how to actually get there! I think we added at least half an hour to our journey. Very good thing I got petrol on the way, when I first noticed that I needed some I had thought "oh, there’s a gas station right next to Brazi’s, I’ll fill up there". I think we would have run out of gas if we had done that. Silly Sez does not know her way around New Haven. Dad did get a nice tour of the place though, I guess.
At Brazi’s, I had a delicious chicken parmagiana… if that word is spelled wrong, I don’t care. It was so tasty and HUGE yet I ate it all (almost). Dad had a cute lasagna that was served in its baking dish. Jake had… a huge variety of stuff all covered in sauce. Such tasty food.
After stuffing ourselves with deliciousness, we went next door to Ikea. It was PACKED! We got a thing for the tv to sit on (right now we are using an old white/clear plastic set of drawers that has been saggy for a great many years, can’t close the top drawer) and a cute little bookcase. Our books currently live in a 20 gallon ziplock bag, so that was a very necessary purchase. Dad was amazing and bought them both for us. We are so lucky. I was so grateful that I had 2 strong men with me, because the flatpack things are incredibly heavy and I don’t know if I would have even been able to help carry them up the stairs to the apartment. Jake and Dad put them in the car, took them out and brought them upstairs, and now I get to put them together! YAY!
I love going places with my Dad, because it means he is here and that is awesome. Its just a super-awesome bonus that he pays for stuff. Even if we had to pay for everything, it would still be awesome having Dad here because I miss him a lot. I miss everyone. Connecticut and Victoria need to be adjacent states. Someone get on that, please. They both have coasts, it shouldn’t be too hard!
Title: I don’t know, it was all that was left in my once overflowing notepad file of weird title possibilities.
Sounds like all kinds of awesome. Well, except for getting lost of course, that’s not so awesome. But it turned out ok, and that’s awesome! :oD ~jo

You were probably the only one worried about being lost. Like when Lisa took us accidently to the same place two or three times on the way to somewhere we didn’t quite get to. Was fun to see the sights. Yay for a new tv stand and a bookcase.
