The last few days, stuff has gotten DONE.
On Tuesday, Ashley was a wonderful little girl and let me actually work out without her demanding my attention and cuddles constantly. So of course, I kept going until she did need me, which was 90 minutes later. I was playing the Michael Jackson: The Experience game on the Wii which is great fun and cardio. My shoulders still hurt from all that grooving. She danced a bit in front of me (because she has her own controller that lacks batteries), then practiced laying on her tummy and getting up (over and over, I have no idea why she was doing that, and of course once I got the camera she stopped), read a few books and then ran around putting things in random places. I really hope this boost in independence stays around.
The only other thing I remember from Tuesday is that I spilled an unmixed milo (so a cup of milk and 2 big spoons of chocolatey powder) on my lap. SO GLAD I decided to be different and have my drink at the table instead of on the couch. What a mess that was.
Wednesday – Matt and Lisa came over to spend some time with Ashley. So, which Ash got grandparent time, I got free-of-baby time so I got some things done! I organised the freezer, cleaned the fridge, and finally got my thanksgiving tools out of the back room and into a drawer in the kitchen. They had been hanging out in a suitcase but now they are more easily accessible. Then using the extra space inside the suitcase, I moved all the random crap out of our bedroom. Before Ashley, I had to get some of our crap out of drawers so she had some space. Because I was exhausted and very pregnant, I threw it all into a long box we got something in and put the box under the crib. Once Ash could stand up in the crib and we had to lower the mattress, the box didn’t fit anymore so it has been sitting in our bedroom just… taking up space and looking ugly. But now, it is not there anymore. YAY!!
We had chinese food for dinner (lemon chicken and veggie fried rice YUM) because I had been craving it. It was good, but not quite what I had been wanting…
Today, Ash let me work out AGAIN. SO AWESOME. Also, she decided she was going to have 2 naps, so when Jake had his very long lunch break (Barb doesn’t work on Thursdays, Laurie does, and she gives Jake his proper, full break of 10:45 – 12:15. Today it was until 12:30!) and Ash wasn’t napping so I could do things! I got the apartment swept, I chopped up chicken for the freezer (and got a weird blister/graze thing, I press too hard on the knife, always happens when I do lots of chopping) and then I still had 15 minutes so I laid on the bed looking for a recipe for dinner tonight. I didn’t want turkey burgers, but we had ground turkey that had to be used. I found a recipe for Chinese Turkey Lettuce Wraps (or as I know it, san choy bao… I think that spelling is ok) and we only needed 2 ingredients: ginger root and water chestnuts. So a quick trip to the store-next-door and BAM! New dinner idea all ready.
And you know what? These things are FREAKING AMAZING. We just kept eating it until we ran out of lettuce. I served Ash some, mixed with her regular steamed veggies because she doesn’t like meat much and this meal is mostly meat. She ate it ALL. She actually picked around her regular beloved veggies to get at the flavour country. I was so proud.
The blog I got the recipe from is the same one that I got black bean burgers from years ago. I don’t know why it took me this long to try her other recipes. I think I may have to make many of them. I already have another 4 or 5 I want to try. Mmm…
Ok, I think it is time to curl up on the couch to read my book. I’m reading "journey to the centre of the earth" and they are just about to start the descent.
Title: Because I have 2 owwies on my main finger. A papercut and the stupid knife-graze/blister/thing.
I LOVE stuff wrapped in lettuce. I do this a lot with veggie chilli. Lee Mee xXx

Oh man, san choy bao is amazing! Here’s hoping Ash’s new-found independence is here to stay.

That looks so yummy. Well done to Ashley for eating it all. I love that Ashley is more independent and letting you feel you can do things. I hope it continues. *giant hugs*

I love being able to clean and organize! Lately I’ve barely been able to do the regular house cleaning stuff, especially now that L is awake more. He’s been staying up for 2-3 hr stretches a few times a day now which is awesome to get more awake time with him but I defiantly get less done lol. Yay for being able to exercise 🙂 I need to get a good fitness game for my wii.
