Mourning the loss of deliciousness
Today has been so very very long. I woke up at 9 and started gathering everything we would need for our big day out doing stuff. Which involved about an hour folding dirty laundry so it would all fit in our basket. Could only do that in 5 minute bursts because it was already so hot, plus I was having a weak morning. Actually, a weak whole day, I kept having trouble with teh stupid up-and-down boot door of the car. But I got better at standing.
At about 10:30 we went outside and put everything in Lisa’s car, that had been there since I woke. She was busy doing other things in the area so we hung out at the tables in our backyard. Was lovely there in the shade.
We banked stuff… which was annoying as the stimulus check was in both of our names so the teller lady was bitching coz we don’t have a joint account… and then Jake didn’t have valid id so she couldn’t cash it… I don’t know how they resolved that but all of a sudden she just said we were done and smiled. Seems to have gone through so that’s good. At one point she commented on my green card photo, sarcastically saying "oh, don’t you love this photo?" …and honestly, I do. It’s not bad, considering I was surprised by the picture taking. Crazy woman.
Next stop of many was Walt’s. He knew why we hadn’t been in, even though we hadn’t been in to tell him, which was cool. Apparently he has spies making sure we (Jake) are still ok. And he gave me his card and said if Jake needs a shave/haircut we should call him on a thursday while he’s at work, and he’ll come get Jake the next day in the evening. Isn’t that so sweet? We both almost teared up over that. Lovely man. Was nice to be back there, tis a relaxing place, even more so when it is the start of the day rather than the end where all you want to do is go home.
Next was DMV, which was rather quick. I have to mail myself something so that I have a piece of mail with my street address on it. And we didn’t bring the piece of mail with Jake on it, so we are going back next week with our forms all filled out and we will be going for actual test taking and getting Jake some valid id. I’m glad we didn’t stay long, or have to stand in any lines at all, because I knew I wouldn’t be able to. Couldn’t tell if it would be a vomit or a faint kind of day, but I knew it would’ve been one or the other.
Then we malled it up, where the most deliciosu turkey burger was devoured by a Sez. Man that thing was good. I think I ate too fast though, I felt a bit sick later on from too much food. But mmm… food. We got my watch battery replaced in all of a minute. That was cool, and fairly cheep too, so yay. Working watch! We finally finally traded in our old Gamecube and DS and got Mario Party for the DS. Which shall be fun. We were ‘served’ by a nice guy who kept commenting on my "everyone loves an aussie girl" tshirt. It’s true you know.
Next was shoe-getting. Which took a while, and was annoying, but the results were pretty good. We spent under $100 for us combined, so I’m happy with that. Even if mine were 20% of that. Kristen was ‘helping’ us, well me, and that was… well… we don’t work well together. She gets annoyed by my indecisiveness and not knowing exactly what I am looking for, and I get annoyed with her getting annoyed and just the general… yeah. She’s the one who helped me pick out my wedding outfit, so I should’ve known we don’t do well together. We get good things in the end, but man is it annoying. Once the shoes were all bought though (my sneakers are cute and have blue on them! Like… this diary blue) all was good. And Lisa called the moment we were done to say she was done with her thing. So we went to laundry. And it was hot and disgusting and boring and felt like an age in there, but we watched a show on the tv about a Siberain Lynx and it was cute and would allow it’s keeper/trainer lady to give it huggles and that is awesome.
Did you know I am awesome? I can get a weeks worth of groceries in under 20 minutes. Apparently that is a huge feat. I never usually pay attention to the time, and it felt like an hour… but I do think that is pretty good. We got a MASSIVE amount of stuff today too, because we were stocking up on all the things that the delivery groceries don’t offer. Like the yummy overly-sugary granola. Mmm. And bagels in single. And hot turkey breasts for dinner. Which was at 8pm, which is so wrong for us. My schedule is so fucked for today.
I think it is time to go sleep in the freshly washed sheets with my freshly washed hubby and enjoy the snooze of the night. After I read the faves I opened. Grr at opening all my faves. Grr at you for writing. No wait, that’s a good thing. Yay.
title: The caramel slice we made… 2 weeks ago? It’s gone. I ate the last slice tonight. Which was sad. But then I got to do something I’ve been wanting to do for weeks, and that was scrape all the caramel off the walls of the container they were in and eat that with all the chocolate and cookie crumbs in the bottom. Man, it was almost better than it was in slice form. YUM!
