I feel like I have done EVERYTHING today.
Matt and Lisa came over today, at about 10:30. Before they came over, Ashley and I changed the sheets on the bed, which really meant her chasing me around the bed over and over and over again. She seemed to enjoy the fact that I thought she was going to catch me. Actually she did once, but I hid under the doona hahaha.
Once the grandparents arrived, Matt and I built towers out of Ashley’s toys (yogurt containers, spice containers… pretty much anything that we empty goes into a box in the kitchen for Ash to play with) and she would run over and knock over our lovely handiwork every time. It was fun. Once Jake went on break, I stole him and we went to the bank and post office. Well, that was the plan. We went to the bank, got some money out, ordered me a debit card (I’ve been here almost 7 years and don’t have my own card yet… silly) and then were on our way to the post office. I had asked Jake to put the mail in the glove box because it was checks and stuff and didn’t want to leave it in plain sight while at the bank. Jake ripped the handle off the glove box trying to open it to get the stuff out again. So I dropped him off at work and went to Pete’s where they jimmied it open for me. Then I got to the post office! Took much longer than I had expected. Ashley didn’t care, she was in the middle of a nap on grandma when I got home.
Once Ash woke up we went downstairs for lunch. Miscommunication meant that instead of eating with Jake at 11, we didn’t get to eat until 1. So I was starving, and apparently Ash was too. She gobbled up piles of spaghetti, and then I zoomed her up here to eat some steamed veggies to fill her tummy before we went to the mall.
Got to the mall about… 3 I think. We went to kids foot locker. Ashley got cute pink sneakers for her birthday from grandma and grandpa. She can walk pretty well in them already, which is pretty awesome. She walked out of the shop in them. Not before spotting herself in a full-length mirror and having fun pointing at herself.
We went to Burlington Coat Factory next (quickly uploads a photo…) because that was where I wanted to get her a birthday present. I wanted to get her an outfit and a book. Instead I got her 2 clothing items and 2 books. It was hard to limit it to that much, honestly. I don’t know why this stupid picture is sideways, it isn’t on my computer…
The dress looks awesome up against her, so I think it will look gorgeous on. And I couldn’t resist a gorgeous stripey purple hoodie! The books are fun too. They say things like "in the wild you might see a monkey (hide your bananas!)"
Ashley and I got home at about 5:30. I sent Jake out to the car to get the bag and the box out of the boot – our purchases. I didn’t tell him that the box was a pizza box. He was just starting to prep dinner when we walked in (a meal that takes about 2 hours from start to eat, and we normally eat dinner at 5 or 5:30!) so he was VERY EXTRA HAPPY with the surprise pizza. We always have pizza around Valentines Day. Even when we have plans not to, it just always ends up happening. It’s just our thing, I guess.
So that was my tiring day. My legs ache from walking so much. Now it is 8 so I have to brush my teeth and go to bed with my big little girl. She didn’t wake up enough last night to need a diaper change. She stirred a few times and wanted food/boob, but she didn’t wake, so we didn’t get up all night. WHOA. It would be a million times more awesome if she slept alone but still… progress!
Title: Jake said it. I don’t know why. I think he was implying that it was my name or something. Weirdo.
Sounds like an excellent day! Ash checking herself out in the mirror is adorable 🙂 Her new sneakers should totally match my present when it arrives!

RYN: Yeah, the suitcase is a totally easy one, but it’s been almost two weeks and I haven’t done it yet… But I should do it so I have the satisfaction of crossing it off and being all – yay only 100 more things to go. I also need to decide what my start/end dates are. I guess it started yesterday. Chipotles are awesome. Although right now I just have dried ones. I would like to find the ones …

OMG it was one of the best days ever! Such a smart child, it took her almost no time to get use to those shoes and then how she loved to window shop and she loved looking at books. She is the best thing in my life.
