Like a licorice litterbox
Today has been so busy. I want to say bone-crushingly busy, but I don’t know why. My bones are perfectly uncrushed. All of me is perfectly uncrushed. Except maybe my brain, at least the typing part. That’s really hard lately. I suck at typing. Every second word is getting corrected. Yargh.
Today has been so lovely and warm. Perfect nudist weather. Unfortunately, we’ve been doing stuff all day long. Proof of that is that my dinner is in the oven now, 3 hours later than dinner normally is.
This morning we left before 10 to get laundry out of the way early. Which didn’t really work, but it was pretty early, seeing as I got up at 9:30. The laundromat was disgustingly hot, and having to stand for the duration of the drying (~45 minutes) I really felt close to passing out. Stupid heat.
On the way there we stopped at the car place near here for petrol and coz the car was wanting coolant. And oil apparently. And we spent… about what a tank of gas would cost. Pretty awesome.
Next stop was the mall, where we went straight to Macy’s kitchen area, found a cake travelling device and were out of there in under 5 minutes. Was awesome. And then we swung by CostCo and grabbed a few things we had coupons for and needed… and a 4 pound thing of grapes. Mmm… grapes. I’m smart and checked the bottom of the package. Half of them were brown on the bottom (green grapes!) and some of them had fluffy white stems on the bottom eewwww. Ours are good. Mmm… snack.
Mmm… dinner. Chicken breast (a flavoured, crumbed one from the freezer) and a bottle of water. Absolutely perfect. I’ve been snacking on cake scraps since about 3:30 (so… 5 hours ago?) so all I wanted for eats is something yummy and NOT SWEET. Cake scraps are awesome though. I had to flatten the tops of both cakes, and then straighten up the edges, so that was LOTS of cake rind to eat. Mmm… cake rind. Especially good with nutella or buttercream frosting. Both of which are on the cake. We tested on the scraps first to make sure they are good.
Once we got home, we went straight to making cakes. Rather weird recipe, the cakes were kind of sponge, or meringue, or just weird. They were fluff. They did not work out so well. I was really upset at the result of the first one. But then we decided to make another one, see if that worked any better, and even if it came out just as bad, they could together make a decently sized cake. Except… the second one came out even weirder and flatter/deflated. I must be magical, because now there is a very good looking, well iced cake in the fridge. Probably a good half-inch of buttercream frosting on top of it, but who cares. It’s what the birthday boy (Matt, Jake’s stepdad) asked for.
What else have we done today… we watched the last 2 episodes of In Plain Sight, so that is fresh in our minds for tomorrow night’s season 2 premiere. We went for a walk. Played on the Wii Fit a bit. Done the dishes at least 3 times. Have to do them again once I’m done here, everything at the moment is covered in frosting. I think Jake cleaned off the spatula and stuff though.
Title is a smell Jake made. Man it was weird. Or I’m weird. Either way – weirdness!
!!! I can’t believe I forgot to write. We ate lunch downstairs today, and it was soo good. I had a turkey reuben. I love those things. Mmm…. reuben. Very good. Don’t think I’ve had one in a very long time. Jake had a patty melt. Which is a cheeseburger, but on bread. Pretty much, anyways.
Reuben! Woo! …I wants one.
