It’s like a griddle cake, of SQUID!
Umm… oops. I forgot to write for 4 days. And now I have lots of words to write but it is late and I am sleepy. Getting up at 7:15am on a Sunday and driving for 4+ hours will do that.
On Thursday, Mum and I went on an adventure to find me a good GPS. Or any, but we got a good one. We went to CostCo first, but they only had a few options, and only one of them could be tested out. And that one was really confusing and weird, so we didn’t bother with any of those. We did get some yummy things and an awesome wok/steamer thing for Jake. Mmm… impulse cookware purchase of awesome.
We went to the mall, where we found a whole bunch of geese. So of course we had to go over and take pictures. And then they started hissing at us and all approaching, so we backed off quickly. The mall was mostly boring, but I do have a rather kickass GPS now, so that’s awesome. (Thank you Mum. And Dad.)
Friday was a day of mostly lazing around and relaxing.
On Saturday, we had our final breakfast downstairs for this visit. 6 days in a row of eating deliciousness. I am glad to not be eating there every day now, because pancakes and turkey reubens and french toast are not things that are very good for a system used to much more healthy, easy-flowing food (2 days in a row of eating out for dinner don’t help that either). I had pancakes and one egg over easy, and something in that overloaded me with energy. It took me hours to get rid of it, even after ‘playing’ a lot on the Wii Fit I was still jittery and wanting to do something. We eventually went for a walk, and I ran up and down the road in the middle of the cemetary until my knees collapsed underneath me. Man my thighs hurt today, but at least it stopped me from being annoyingly jittery.
This morning I got up WAY too early. But I did so all week. It is really hard to continue sleeping when I knew I could get up and hang out with my mum. Jake and I went for a petrol run early in the morning, and moved the car into the shade by the house. We all went to the grocery store next door for a quick wander and I bought Mum some of her favourite candy that she can’t get at home for some reason that is rather odd.
At 1pm we headed to JFK. Jake was watching the GPS and constantly telling us how awesome it was. Every time it spoke I jumped. Hopefully I get used to that. We left early because Lisa had advised us that today being Independence Day there would probably be a lot of traffic, people trying to get into the city. Thankfully, there wasn’t really any more traffic than normal, although there was quite a distance that was 10mph.
We lazed around the airport for a while, had a bit of lunch and some delicious coffee-flavoured beverages. I love terminal 7 at JFK. Subway is tasty, Starbucks is also tasty but even if I don’t want anything from it, the entire area smells like the delicious perfume of coffee.
We left Mum at the security check at about 5pm, where we couldn’t go past. That spot is the worst place ever, I have said goodbye way too many times there. We left straight away and came home. On the way to the airport, the other side of the road was jampacked with cars that appeared to not even be moving. Thankfully by the time we were going through, there was no traffic at all. We got home before mum’s scheduled departure time of 6:55pm.
I’m so glad Jake has tomorrow off, we get to relax and be lazy. Which will hopefully help me ‘forget’ how much I miss mum and how waiting until December to see her again is going to take way too long.
-Love- the goose picture.

I had an awesome time with you and Jake. Thank you. I remember I emailed and said to have a good day off, but that was yesterday. Stupid crossing of the date-line and losing a day….. Love you lots!!!

RYN: “I am so SO glad that this is happening. I’m very impressed with the speed of everything getting together too.” We just couldn’t let it die like that… we had to do something and do it quick! 🙂 ~Shady
