I’m an enzymatic magician!
Last night I decided to make brownies as my birthday cake. It’s not a proper birthday a without delicious baked good. There were a few problems though. I had no eggs, but thankfully we live next to a grocery store. When I was in the middle of the making, I realised that instead of the 3/4 cup of cocoa that the recipe calls for, I had barely 1/4. So I melted some chocolate (not in a double boiler, so I knew it would seize. I just made sure it was hot enough and mixed blobs of batter into it until it was smooth and mixed well, then dumped it all into my mixing bowl.) but I didn’t use much so the brownies are more blondies. Except I used brown sugar… so they are kind of mollassesy in flavour. Good though. I made 9 brownie muffins – 3 plain, 3 with a peppermint patty in the middle, and 3 with a peanut butter cup inside.
They took forever to cook. Normally my brownies take about 20 minutes. These took an hour. I think it was because instead of dry cocoa I added wet chocolate, and didn’t balance it out with more flour or anything. They have a tough exterior, but they are so good. Mine looked more like an actual peppermint patty inside today, when it was cool, unlike the picture above. Goodness. Yay, birthday!
I was also really brilliant, and I touched the inside of the oven with the back of my finger again. A few weeks ago I did so with my right index finger, last night it was my right ring finger. RIGHT ON THE KNUCKLE. Thankfully it is healing quickly, so I can actually bend my finger today. I think it is much better because the oven was at 325, whereas when I burned my other finger the oven was over 400.
Today has been stupidly cold. Drove Jake to the senior centre this afternoon so he could vote. We could have walked (it would be less than 5 minutes to get there, most of it uphill), but then I would have had to stand around outside in the 1C/34F weather. This way, we took a while to get a park, but I got to hang out in the lovely sun-warmed car playing tetris on my phone while Jake voted. We had a very obvious parking spot so I didn’t even need to worry about Jake not being able to find his way back to the car, which was also nice.
Right now Jake and I are both rugged up in our lovely awesome blankets that my Mum got us years ago. Mine is pink and his is brown. We fell asleep on the couch because these blankets provide so much awesome snuggly warmth. Mmm, couch-nap…
Title: After voting, we drove home and then went for a walk. My left heel developed and popped a blister on the walk, so when we got home my sock and shoe were bloody. Using some enzymatic magic, I spat on the blood spots and they vanished. TADA!
so other than the peppermint, that sounds FABULOUS!! 🙂 Totally something I would do myself. Way to modify your recipe to match whatcha got. Love,
