I want to eat all the sugar…

Oops. 3 days when I said I would write every 2. In my defense, this past weekend was strangely warm, and Ashley has difficulty going to sleep for a few nights when the weather changes, which means she demands my presence in bed next to her on those nights. And it is too hard to type an entry on my phone, especially as I can’t work out how to shut off the vibrating that happens when I type. Anyhoots…

This weekend was a busy one. Saturday morning we went to Quest so Jake could get some blood taken (standard cholesterol etc tests that his doctor asked for a month ago…) and then we headed to Walt’s so he could get all groomed up nice. Then a MASSIVE grocery shop because we couldn’t go the weekend before. I think it has been a VERY long time since we have spent more than $200 at the grocery store. Yikes. But catch up and stock up… all good.

We were going to go out in the afternoon but I just couldn’t be bothered. So instead I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned…

Sunday morning we left bright and early and went to the laundromat. Because it was almost tshirt weather I actually got to wash my snow-clothes rather than having to wear them, which was nice. It was also nice that Ashley just wanted to sit on the table and eat cornflakes while we folded clothes, so I got help for once! Usually Jake is chasing Ashley around so I have to fold all the stuff myself. Such a nice change.

After everything was clean we went to Costco and got a massive amount of cereal (4 boxes of raisin bran, 2 boxes of mini wheats… each box is 4lb I think? LOTS) and a few other things. That was what we were going to do Saturday afternoon, so it was good to get it done. BUGGER! Forgot to see if they have more of our wok. Lisa wanted one. Argh. Oh well.

In the afternoons we watched Elf. Somehow that took 2 days.

On Monday I made gingerbread! I baked pieces for a house, and stuck the walls and roof and chimney on. That took HOURS all up. Lots of fun. Ashley was so happy we were making cookies, she just sat in her high chair next to me while I worked. Her choice, I would have left her free to roam.

In the afternoon we went to the store, in the rain, because we needed stuff to make royal icing. When we left the store, Ash spotted the "peecee" car so we had to go up and see the flashing red and blue lights up close. (There was a cop directing traffic, helping people get in and out of the parking lot.) Then we walked to the post office, splashing in puddles, because why not. One puddle I splashed in was mostly mud so we both got quite dirty. Oops.

Today, Tuesday, umm… I finished off the gingerbread dough, made a bunch of tiny cookies. Perfect size for Ashley when she asks for a cookie. It was afternoon before I got a chance to decorate the house, so Jake was home so he got to eat candy with Ashley while I worked. I laid out a tablecloth on the floor so Ash could help if she wanted, and we had bowls of different candy. She ate a lot of jelly beans, and then she found the tiny cookies so most of them have a bite in them. I guess she was taking one bite and handing the rest to Jake. Silly girl. I have pictures of the finished house but haven’t uploaded them yet. I really really want to eat it but I don’t want to destroy it! There is a santa in the chimney, a bunch of rabbits in grass around a Christmas tree (with a moose watching in the corner), and a bunch of gummy bears making a gummy pyramid trying to reach the stockings on the wall. The kit I used had only one option for ‘wall’, which had a door cut out of it, so there is a door on both sides. One doorway has a cherry ripe as a door, the other has a giant glob of icing acting as a pathetic ‘snowed in’ idea.

We were all flying off the walls from sugar afterwards. I really shouldn’t have eaten the excess icing. I’m never going to learn that lesson AND listen to myself when I tell myself not to eat it… ah, silly sezzie.

Tomorrow Lisa and Matt are coming over at about 10, and we shall open our presents then. At about 3 is time to go to Kristen and Matt’s for dinner. Nice relaxing day.

How soon after Christmas can I put away the tree? Ashley won’t be happy with it gone, but I will…

I’m writing this note from my brand new fancy phone. It also vibrates when I type even though I thought I turned it off. Yay gingerbread!

I’d love to see a photo of your gingerbread house.
