I need a title and all I can think is blefabluugh
It is Jake’s birthday tomorrow. Happy birthday, dear Squidy! All week we have been celebrating (…using his birthday as an excuse to eat a lot of delicious junk) and doing fun things.
His birthday dessert of choice was apple crumble (I mascerate apples in sugar for a couple days, then mix the juice with brown sugar and enough oats to dry it out. Then bake it all until I can’t stand waiting any longer – either until the crumble is slgihtly crunchy, or the apples are soft, or even just the apples are hot. All depends on patience) which is so very delicious. I made way too much so we had half of it on Thursday night. The other half is still sitting in the fridge waiting to be eaten. At first I was a touch disappointed that he didn’t want a cake or a pie or something that required any effort but it really was the perfect choice. We are both nutty for oats, after all.
Today we went to go see Thor in 3D as that was his birthday movie choice. I’m not a big fan of 3D movies (I haven’t seen one yet that is worth the headaches, eye and nose pain that the glasses cause) but I enjoyed this movie more than I expected to, so that was good. I did not like the idiot sitting 3 seats across and one row behind me. He had his feet resting on the seat in front of him, in my row, and just gently tapping the seat constantly, even after I asked him to stop. It was vibrating my chair the entire time. His and his 2 (?) buddies were just typical annoying movie idiots though. And they were trying to turn every conversation porny, so I missed a lot of dialogue.
After the movie we bought some pretzel bites and went to Target for a wander. And then Kmart. We’re kinda lame, wandering around stores like that is fun for us, so it was a nice way to spend the day.
Tomorrow we are going to eat at Red Robin with the family, which should be lovely. Not sure of what time though, I must find out. I can’t wait for a delicious burger, even if I would have to unhinge my jaw if I wanted to take a bite of the whole thing. Mmm.
Other than that, not much happening here that isn’t kitty-related. I’ve been trying to restrain myself from writing multiple entries about how cute they are and how amusingly they react to my ‘angry mum’ voice. Somehow that has ended up with me not writing anything for 2 weeks. We still don’t know how long we have the kitties for. On Thursday, Katey came up to see them and was telling me all about her plans (the end result being ‘getting a place where she can have the kitties live with her again) and it seems like they will be here for a while longer. So that’s awesome.
Do you guys think you will get a kitty when those kitties leave?

I agree with you about the 3D movie business. There is only ever 1 or 2 scenes that are actually decent 3Dness, I hate those headachey glasses.

You should see if you can foster a kitty from the spca. Here foster-ers for the RSPCA only have to pay for food (RSPCA pay for vaccinations and other vet bills) and if you want to go away on holiday, or simply can’t look after the kitty any more, they will take the kitty back into the shelter until you are back/can look after them again! Only risk is that someone could adopt your kitty at ANY time
