I miss my apple buttons

I am exhausted. I’m really really not used to this being-on-my-feet-doing-stuff-all-day thing. It is hard work!

This morning, bright and early, Jake and I headed out on our excursion to grab a whole bunch of random things. On the list: candied ginger, 5 gallon bucket, energy shots, shave get, frozen pie crust, and a shave for Jake. We got it all. The best part was when we discovered the herb/spice section of the health food store. They have SO MANY things there, and these tiny little bags so you can scoop out how much you want and just write the number on the tag that comes with the bag. Good system. I will have to remember that next time we are making something that calls for a random spice that we don’t happen to have in our spice collection. We also got cinnamon sticks, because they were there and I thought I needed them.

Came home and got to work on making pies. After there was dough chilling and apple slices mascerating (love that word) we headed downstairs and had a very very tasty lunch. Best turkey reuben ever, so clearly Russ made it. He makes the best. I call them Russbens. Mmm… so tasty. Perfect proportion of everything. Yums.

I discovered that having the ottoman in the kitchen is very awesome, a nice soft place to sit for a few minutes while still being in the kitchen. Yay.

Lisa (mother in law) showed up just after the apple pie came out of the oven. She brought over the turkey and ham and some other things, so she and Jake took charge of the raw meat and I ran away to hide/do other things. I don’t want to see any of that, or I wouldn’t be able to eat the food!

Once the sweet potato pie came out of the oven (I had too much filling, so now Lisa wants me to make her another pie so she can take it home tomorrow night. Many pies!!) we went over to San Remo’s to meet up with Matt (Lisa’s husband… called himself Jake’s "bonus daddy" so I guess that makes him my bonus father in law) and have delicious pizza.

And now it is almost 10, I am exhausted and want to go to sleep, but I have wet hair so I have to stay awake. It is rather cruel.

Thankfully there is not much to do tomorrow. Have to make stuffing loaf and cranberry sauce. Lisa I think is taking care of the meats. I just need to watch carefully so I can do it all myself next year. Mmm stuffing loaf. Loaf keeps trying to come out as load and that is just wrong.

I have been taking pictures all day, but I am too lazy to get them off my phone. I have progress photos of pie! And I used my pie bird, he is in the apple pie right now!!

Title: I had the apple stickers on my arm… pretty much all day. They were awesome and amusing. Especially the ones that say "gee whiz!" …I’d press that button and then start dancing around the kitchen like a crazy person… it’s no wonder I’m tired!
