I can’t believe I tried to call you Samuel…
R.I.P. Headbutt.
July 7, 2005 – October 3, 2010. (I don’t know when he was born, but that is how long we have known of him)
facebook status (to go along with my tradition of ridiculous short pet-celebrating entries) :
Rest in peace, my darling Headbutt.
You were an awesome cat, even when you punched me in the eye.
Thank you for choosing us as your family.
Headbutt deserves so many more words though. My beautiful, silly, amusing, awesome cat. I love that his entire life with our family is chronicled in this diary. From the moment when we met, a few days later when your name became obvious… and so many other awesomes. I also love that he was so photogenic, I have so many photos of just every kind of cat pose.
When laying on the floor, he was always either a kitty-bag, or stretching out on his back in a way that looked like a belly-patting suggetion. It was not – front paws would grab the thing that touched his belly, mouth with try and bite, back legs would kick. Dad often played with that.
Pictures to show why he was called Headbutt.
New Years 2005 – My two best friends invited me to two seperate things. So I stayed home and spent the night covering everything in glowsticks, including my dear cat. I love that he stayed still long enough for me to get a photo, and then he took the necklace off and ran away. This was only one of 2 new years that I was in my home country while Headbutt was around – the other one, he was outside and got scared because of the fireworks, so he ran inside for cuddles, stinking of gunpowder. Gunpowder kitty!
Such a big cat. Whenever he would sit in my lap, he’d just keep shifting more and more on my belly until I was knocked to the ground an he could pretend he was the ruler of the land called Sez. At least that’s what I always imagined he was doing.
One time, the Jenn was sad and we happened to have her rubber duckie, Malcolm, hanging out at my home. So, Headbutt was a lovely cat and sat very still so I could put a rubber duckie on his head so he looked like he was Malcolm’s ride through the Sez-universe. I think he was so well behaved because he knew it would make Jenn smile.
He was also very good at giving kisses. Like in the very top picture of this entry – I had him trained so he would kiss me on the nose (like he is kissing my forehead right there) for food. It was the only way he could get food from me. He also knocked on the front door if he needed/wanted to go outside, and when he was done he would knock on the door to come back in. I can’t take credit for those awesome tricks though, he came to us knowing that.
One time, I put my toy Heffalump in front of Headbutt. He put his right paw on his trunk in a friendly manner, than made Jake and I aw. But then a few seconds later, the left paw came and punched Bernard right in the face. Which was massively massively hilarious. I think it was jealousy because he knew that Bernard was coming with us on a trip, and Headbutt had to stay home. That cat loved to sit in our suitcases.
And of course I have no photos of this, but one time Headbutt was using my hair as something fun to bat around. I got sick of this, and put my hair behind my head (I was laying on the couch and he was on the ground near my head). Next thing I know, cat paw to the eye! I know it was just a playful thing, and aw he looked so sad and scared when he realised I was hurt. But I do like to say that he punched me in the eye. Much more dramatic sounding.
My beautiful, beautiful Headbutt. I miss you sweetie. I love that you recognised me last time I saw you, when we came for christmas two years ago. I love how every single morning I would wake up to you sleeping on my chest, or up against me if I was on my side. You were an awesome hilarious fun cat.
I love you, you weird thing. Goodbye.
Such a sweet memorium to an awesome family member I know you’ll miss dearly. My youngest daughter and I enjoyed Headbutt’s pics. :o) We love our fur babies so much too!
