Humans don’t make good dinosaurs
I made adorable and delicious mini brownie muffins today. Oh, they are so perfect. The ‘shell’ is kinda crunchy but mostly chewy, and the inside is… it’s brownie, but it’s goo almost. So fantastic. Nowhere near as good as they were fresh and hot, but yum, so yum. I plan on decorating them so they look like little mini puddings for our christmas dinner on Sunday. Hopefully a dollop of icing on top won’t take away any of the amazing flavour.
I cleaned like a mad woman today. Except not really, because I kept getting distracted by little time consuming tasks of cleaning other things that you can’t even tell if they are clean or not! Ah well, I know, and I guess that’s the important thing.
We went to the bank this afternoon, and all the way there and back I kept telling Jake that we needed to ‘stop at the store on the way home’ …which was massively amusing to me. Mostly because to go to the store we park where we park for being ‘at home’, and walk the tiny distance to the store. And now I have more essential ingredients for brownie making. I know I still have a PILE of cookies left over from last week (or was it the week before that I made them? Ah well) but I want brownie muffins now bammit! And so, I shall have. And they shall be adorable AND delicious.
I’ve been hoping someone would write a ‘decade in review’ survey, because I think that would be awesome. I was going to give it a shot, but now that tomorrow is the LAST DAY OF THE YEAR I can’t be bothered. So I’ll just do the regular year in review survey that everyone is doing. I was going to say "everyone and their dog" but no dogs have done it unfortunately. That would be awesome. So awesome.
So yeah, year in review. Not as good as the one I did for 2006, but really… that was the most kickass entry I have ever written. Or at the very least… it’s one of them.
Title: Jake called something a ‘crapasaurus" …or maybe I called him one? I forget, and it was a minute ago. Anyway, yeah, of course he’s a crapasaurus, he’s a people!
1. What did you do in 2009 that you’d never done before? Had an interview with an immigration agent. Hosted Thanksgiving dinner (actually that was my first time hosting ANYTHING, before that we’d never had more than one guest at a time!)
2. Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I didn’t make any (at least, none that I wrote in my end of year entry last year, so therefore there are none!) I don’t know if I’ll make any, other than the usual
1) Be happy
2) Be Sez
3) Try to be healthy
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? A whole bunch of my favourites did. No one I know personally though.
4. Did anyone close to you die? No. Someone special did, but I didn’t even know him really. And my darling fishie passed.
5. What countries did you visit? None, although we started the year in Australia. So I guess I just lied. For the first 11 days of the year, we visited Australia.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009? A job. Savings. A kid would be nice.
7. What date from 2009 will be etched upon your memory forever and why? 25th of June. It was terribly sad, but the fact that pretty much everyone came to offer internet hugs and said "you were the first person I thought of when I heard!" …that made me feel rather good.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? I got a fully unconditional permanent resident card!!
9. What was your biggest failure? Lack of preparation and such when it came to handing over paperwork to make the green card process smoother. I’m so glad that even though I kinda fucked that up I’m still allowed to stay for good.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? No. I think the worst I got was when I slid in the kitchen and fell. Banged my ribs on the corner of the oven and got a pretty decent bruise! (no pictures though, it was too close to boob to be able to document)
11.What was the best thing you bought? Green card. 😀 Although I just paid money to get the application flowing to begin with. As for items… my pink digital camera is rather awesome, takes fabulous close up shots. And the Michael Jackson Opus, even though I didn’t buy with my money, it is amazing and awesome and so full of good stuff. And I’m only a quarter through it! So good.
12. Whose behavior merits celebration? Jake. He put up with almost an entire year of my stressing. Love him.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed? No one really.
14. Where did most of your money go? Rent, food, bills. Green card application, although I do believe we paid that in December of last year…
15. What did you get really, really excited about? Double really? The This Is It movie coming out. Seeing Michael Jackson on the big screen like that? So much awesome. That is a massively awesome movie. I’m looking forward to the DVD coming out next month so I can watch all the extras.
16. What song will always remind you of 2009? This Is It. I remember the night it came out and JJ, Amrai, Spicy and I all listened to it together. So lovely.
Compared to this time last year, are you:
17. Happier or sadder? Bout the same.
18. Thinner or fatter? About 20lbs lighter. Just by having a scale again. My jeans that used to be figure-hugging and sexy are now loose and baggy and annoyingly huge. And the jeans I was sad about not fititng into – they are the only ones that fit! Mmm, score.
19. Richer or poorer? About the same. This time of year is hard, what with having to have oil to heat the apartment and all that.
20. What do you wish you’d done more of? Had my camera with me. So many pretty and awesome things I missed because I didn’t have my camera.
21. What do you wish you’d done less of? St
ress. I stressed so much for so long it messed with my body’s rhythm (I didn’t have a period for EIGHT MONTHS)
22. How did you spend Christmas? Jake and I stayed home, made delicious food, and just generally relaxed.
23. How will you be spending New Year’s Eve? Same as christmas pretty much. Every time Jake asks, I just tell him "let’s pretend we’re stoned, and eat a massive lot of cookies!!"
24. Did you fall in love in 2009? More and more each day.
25. How many one-night stands? Absolutely none.
26. What was your favorite TV program? Dollhouse is rather awesome. Psych is too. Although for things we discovered this year – My Name Is Earl.
27. Do you hate anyone that you didn’t hate this time last year? No
28. What did you want and get? Permanent residency.
29. What did you want and not get? A job.
30. What was your greatest musical discovery? I didn’t really discover anything new, although the thing I have found and enjoyed the most is MJ in concert audio. So awesome.
31. What was the best book you read? American on Purpose
32. What were your favorite films this year? This Is It <3
33. How old did you turn on your birthday? 25
34. What is one thing that would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? I don’t know about satisfying, but it could have been less sad…
35. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009? Since my birthday in November, it has been ‘classy hobo’ because I pretty much wear my fingerless gloves every time I leave the house. They are my driving gloves. Other than that, no fashion here. Clearly.
36. What kept you sane? Jake and his massive awesomeness.
37. Which celebrity/public figure from 2009 do you fancy most? Do you really need to ask? 🙂
38. What political issue stirred you the most? Nothing really
39. Who did (do) you miss? Everyone other than Jake. Because he’s here all the time. And that is awesome. But the lack of friends and family here… that’s really not awesome.
40. Who was the best person (people) you met? I didn’t meet anyone new this year, except for a bunch of new favourites thanks to the blogathon.
41. What was a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009? I… really can’t think of one.
42. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: "feels as though I’ve seen your face a thousand times" 🙂
Ummm baby brownies… If I hadn’t just made mini cupcakes I would totally make some brownies.

I saw a recipe and thought about you! You use cupcake papers and pans just like you’re making cupcakes, but instead you put meatloaf in them, and you top them with mashed potatoes! It’s like an April Fool’s joke because they look just like regular old cupcakes. Thought it was funny.

I could gnaw the screen right now. How did they look all frosted & happy?ryn;; You could indeed wear the Snuggie backwards; the armholes are just placed oddly, so it doesn’t fit as awesome. & no, um, I’ve never tried it.
