How to finish, I never know…
If I don’t write every day, I won’t write any day.
This week Jake has been having his lunch upstairs with us, seemingly extending his break. I don’t know why this JUST occurred to us but it did. We bought him a travel bowl for his salad and cup-with-lid for his soup. Better than tryinv to carry breakables up the stairs. Ashley loves eating lunch with her daddy. Today he was here at 10:30 (he goes back at 12, is usually here about 11:30) which ROCKED. It gave me time to pan-roast veggies for pizza for dinner. We use naan that we have in the freezer so it is a quick meal and shouldn’t heat the apartment too much. It is about 90F out right now and will do that for the next 4 days. Ick! I’m still in the cold-weather habit of washing my hands using the hot water tap so this seems sudden and early!
This morning, Ashley said ‘happy’, and when I asked her who she was, she said ‘moosh’ which is our nickname for her (it was smoosh but that first s fell off long ago). She just blows me away with her cuteness. She likes to wear one of our green dish gloves, especially when I’m doing the dishes because then she is just like mummy! She will occasionally wear an oven mitt instead. I have pictures and will share them later, I’m writing on my phone at the moment (because it is nap time so I’m trapped in the bed). I’ve been teaching her the names of things in the bathroom (I don’t get to go in there alone anymore) so she knows where the sink, walls, tiles and door are. Today’s lesson is ‘floor’ and she seems a little blown away that there is floor in every room!
Almost every morning after breakfast she wants boo and tee (boob and tv) so we watch ‘super why’ which is pretty cute. They sing the theme (or a variation) 4 times in 20-something minutes which music-loving moosh loves. She has started trying to say the letters but they all come out as tee. I hope I can still tolerate this show in a few years- it teaches the alphabet, spelling, rhyming and reading; so that’s a long time before she is done learning those things.
Is if dinner time yet? I’m really excited. Last night we had nando burgers (grilled chicken that marinated in peri peri sauce, with cheese lettuce tomato and perinaise [mayonnaise mixed with the same sauce things marinated in] on bread) and it was SO FILLING and exactly what I wanted. Tonight’s pizza is also filling and just what I want. I love this eating mostly healthy. It’s not a diet, although I keep track of what I eat (and have been losing a pound a week) and don’t eat crap too often. 10lb to lose and I’m back to pre-pregnancy size. At this rate I should be there by August.
Earlier this week, over 2 nights, we watched a Dangerous concert on dvd. Ashley wanted to watch MJ and I’m not going to say no! The weird thing for me is I’ve had that dvd for 9 years and that was the first time I watched it (it came in a box set with 4 cds, lots of previously unreleased stuff, pretty cool). Jake loves Michael Jackson too so it is nice family time for us.
Ooh! I know something else I can say! Jake and I have a date planned for Tuesday evening. We are going to see Iron Man 3 and have a nice meal out. I cannot wait! I hope Ash does ok without me. She’ll have her grandma Lisa so things should be fine, but we”ll be gone for bedtime. I don’t think we’ve been apart since early January when we were in Australia so it is very overdue.
Ash has been asleep for 2 hours. A normal nap is 90 minutes. Yesterday she slept for 3 hours. She woke a lof in the night, kept saying hi to us. So cute, so hard not to respond, but if we did then we’d have to get up. As it was she tried to have a nap at 10:30 (good thing Jake came home early and kept her awake!) so she needed this long nap.

What a great idea for Jake to eat with you during his break. Ashley is so cute. I am looking forward to Skyping. I hope you and Jake have a great time, and I hope Grandma Lisa enjoys her Ashley time. I am jealous. *giant hugs*
