Giant stinky blamasaurus!
Giant stinky blamasaurus. I am tired. I feel like I have been moving all day.
I got woken up way early this morning. Ok, it was 7:30, but that is earlier than I ever get up. I got woken up by the heater crackling to life. Apparently I forgot to turn it off last night. So that was a fun way to wake up. When the heater turns on, it sounds like the apartment walls are cracking and are about to fall off.
This morning we did exhausting errands. Laundry, grocery shopping. Got xmas gift for one of my brothers (the other I have had something for for months), and we got a roaster pan for the turkey tomorrow. We were going to wait until next year (due to the lack of money this month) but it was such a good deal on a good quality pan that we had to get it. I’m getting paid back for the groceries tomorrow so that can cover the tiny extraneous purchase.
Since we have been home, we…. wrote a huge list of things to do. All except one have been done, and that one is for Jake to clean the toilet. I am not going to do that, that is totally his job.
We also put the turkey in the brine-bucket. Which was gross. I was sitting on the kitchen floor so I was available in case Jake needed my assistance (which he did, briefly… there was a weird plastic mesh thing inside the cavity and so I had to get the scissors and chop it to get the evil thing out) and he kept being a butthole and showing me all the bits he was pulling out of the turkey. Yay, turkey neck. That’s exactly what I want to see.
We have made 2 sweet potato pies. 1 to eat tomorrow and one for Jake’s mum Lisa to take home with her tomorrow. I don’t know why the mix ends up being enough for 2 pies but it does. They look pretty good. Mmm… pie.
We have the dining table covered in all the plates and serving dishes we will be using tomorrow (I wanted to see if they would all fit comfortably – because if not we have a big rectangular table in the closet that could function as a serving table… but it is not needed) as well as so many slices of bread. The bread is for the stuffing, it works best if it is a touch stale so it is drying right now. Yay, dry bread. The only problem with that is this entire room smells like bread. It’s kinda gross actually, even though the bread is really tasty stuff it smells bad. I guess it’s kinda like vegemite sandwiches – I can’t stand the smell of those if it is someone else’s.
Tomorrow morning I have to work out what time to put the turkey in so it is ready for 5:30. Must remember that.
I am so exhausted. When we came home at 2pm I was falling asleep as I was walking up the stairs carrying bags of groceries. That was fun and kinda scary actually. So tired.
Exciting preparations!!! Do we need a pie pan for sweet potato pie or do we buy pie crusts? Have a great time!!!
