Giant slide leading to a bucket of scat

This weekend, although it is only a third over, have been lovely-lovely.

Last night we were finally brave enough to try the chinese place that lives next to the place we buy our groceries. I have had chinese food before, but only from the place that was across the road from where we used to live. And that place was not good. So I have been very hesitant to try anywhere else. I’m glad we did though, because it meant dinner last night was pretty tasty. I got fried rice and sweet and sour chicken – pretty hard to mess up. Jake had some odd noodle thing. We had it all again for lunch today, and we still have plenty of leftovers.

Today we watched a lot of Red Dwarf. We are halfway through season… 6 now. I think. I’m a little worried the discs we have been getting are missing bits – we realised today that we hadn’t seen the "tongue tied" dream sequence that was back in season 2. It wasn’t on the disc but it was on the instant netflix thing. Very odd. I’ve had that song in my head ever since. Amusing song, so it’s not too bad.

We went to the Fireman’s Carnival that I took a picture of getting set up the other day. Jake had a keilbasa hot-dog type thing for dinner, and I had the funnel cake in the picture. I was disappointed by the lack of sugar, but the dispenser thing had tiny holes and clumped up sugar, plus it was massively windy. The small amount I did get took me at least 2 minutes, and by that time all the wind had made my dinner cold. Still pretty tasty though. Not as good as the one I got at the Bethlehem fair a few years back, where the guy gave it to me pretty much covered in powdered sugar – you couldn’t see it! Plus he made it fresh while I was waiting unlike this one. For dessert, we bought a bag of cotton candy (sorry, fairy floss) and ate some of it on the way home.

This was the weirdest thing ever… why is that ride at the back called Scat??? That really confused me when we were walking in. But it was even more confusing then, because the sign lined up with the bottom of the slide, like there was a bucket or something at the end of the slide. Why anyone would want to slide down a giant slide into a bucket of scat… I don’t want to know.

I love that Jake is just like me. We go, grab some food, eat it up, grab some cotton candy and left. Not that there was anything to look at, and we aren’t interested in rides, so there was nothing to do. But that’s not the point. It’s nice that we are the same.

Tiny little carnival on the oval at the local park-area.

My teeth hurt. Too much candy! I need a steak.

I love funnel cake so much! I tried to make it at home once. It turned out okay, but it just wasn’t the same.

Ooo funnel cake. Yum Cotton Candy!

We seem to have compromised between cotton candy and fairy floss…we call it candy floss :o) Mmm chinese and cake…I’m officially hungry!

LMAO at the scat ride. Ummm… no idea?

Maybe the slide is so scary they have a labelled bucket at the bottom just in case……..

September 5, 2010

Woo, fairy floss! 😛 And wtf, scat ride?

The burlap sack slide is the best ride!

September 6, 2010

Hahaha love the apology for calling it the wrong name an thanks for the funnel cake pic 🙂

ryn: AWWWW OMG! You and Jake and Jake-mummy and Jake-(step)daddy all together as a family, that is SO CUTE. 🙂 I’m glad you guys all have so much fun together as one big brainmatey family!! Heehee, pumpkin time! 😀 snc <3 More norts coming from meee <3 I was waiting for you to write again to nort again. Yay veggieveggie! 😀

ryn: aaww, I’m sorry to hear about lack of green lushness. Here it’s some offices (but really pretty little house-like buildings) on one side, and green nature trail lushness on the other side, the back side of our house. Our house has a nice butt. XD!! I can see Mr. and Mrs. Next Door’s house, and the playground from my room, though, so that’s a plus. 🙂

you live in a REALLY pretty place, though, so everything all balances out for both of us! 😀 It’s all pretty stuff. One really cool snc is we both have lovely places to walk, so that rocks. and the town you live in looks so prettyyyyy!!! LOOOL SCAT. That definitely sounds like a ride I wouldn’t wanna go on, ever.

I hope they mean scat as in scatting, you know, that kind of singing before beatboxing was invented. Like, skiddy-diddy-doo-wop-dop-a-loo-lop my head off with a fish ’cause I like beatboxing so much better. D: Fairy floss?? Funky name. I think I’ll stick to calling it cotton-candy, ’cause that’s what it is! Somehow I picture fairies flossing their teeth with strands of cotton candy,…

…and then giving it to you to eat. Blech. D:! mmmm sugary funnel cake. <3 I LOVE Chinese food. I too have had bad Chinese food experiences tho (uugh that chunk of raw fish my Mum got in her veggie chop suey, ugh ugh ugh!), but most of the ones I remember were awesome. We used to go for cute little fancy-ish restaurant places.. the one we used to go to in Cali was China Garden or…

September 6, 2010

…something like that, and it was owned by this Chinese (dur XD) couple who were SOOOO nice and always remembered us! the place was like a cozy little house instead of a restauranty place. 🙂 Sez should look out for one of those kind of Chinese places. Woah, this ryn was massive. @.@

*hugs* Ubings! <3

What a weird, creepy name for a ride! Maybe it was supposed to be an abbreviation, but it epically failed?

funnel cake with strawberries and vanilla ice cream = best thing ever.

I want to go on that scat ride, I have before, it’s fun. RYN: Nope, he didn’t eat it all. He almost did. At the start he wasn’t even trying to do it, he just wanted the huge steak, it was only halfway through that he actually started trying, but he ran out of time. I have a friend who’s done it though lol.

September 7, 2010

I went to a carnival this weekend too. I had the best fried dough with powder sugar, mmmmmmmm. I also got cotton candy b4 leaving. On the ride home I said to Nick, “I have a tummy ache.”

September 8, 2010

ryn: I did! I haven’t had my phone near me oops. I’m late.

September 8, 2010

I’ve not been interested in fair rides since I was very little. So I’m like you too. And the slide + scat imagery is very urge-worthy indeed! ~jo

September 12, 2010

LMAO @ Scat. when we went to the fair whilst I was awol and offline a while back, they had rides that gave the warnings, rules and whatnot in a multitude of languages…which weirded me out. Until I realised it was called the Euro Funfair coz each ride came from a diff european country. Duh! Ferris Wheel was in German, another ride was in Dutch…and then EVERYTHING made sense!

September 17, 2010

Hahahaa. A ride called scat. Wouldn’t really want to know what it does. Perhaps it is aptly named because of the affect it might have on an individual? Aaaahahaha.
