Gastronomical Equivalency Exam

I feel so sick right now. Masive headache, weird feeling gut… all because I ate this delicious chocolate mousse. I didn’t even eat  half of it! And that is a tiny adorable little container. I figured I’d be alright, I normally refuse to eat things made with cream but that’s because it TASTES like cream and the flavour makes me feel bleh… but obviously it is not just the flavour anymore. Meh, was so good. And it just means Jake has more to eat. The only reason I made this was because I bought a tiny adorable little carton of heavy cream because Jake’s birthday cookies called for a 1/3 cup of it. And then we used a tiny bit of cream in the mashed potatoes the other night, so I had a half cup of the stuff and had to do SOMETHING with it. I am massively impressed with how well this came out, but… oh I wish I could eat it. I probably will still finish off my part. I do adore chocolate mousse.

So… yes. This week seems to be the show-ending week. Lost on Sunday, 24 on Monday… NCIS finished for the season yesterday. Nothing on tonight though, so Jake is playing Super Mario Galaxy 2, which he got for a birthday present yesterday. The other part of his present, we find out next Tuesday when that is happening. Exciting.

Yesterday we went out for dinner to celebrate Jake’s birthday. We went with Lisa, Matt, and 2 of Lisa’s friends – Michelle and Jen. Lovely time, lovely food, lovely people. We went to Senor Panchos, and I had chicken fajitas, for a change. So much food.

I keep getting shudder-filled flashbacks from making the cornstarch slurry that I used to thicken the shepherd’s pie. I was failing using a spoon so I used my fingers and it was like a nails-on-chalkboard sort of reaction. Weirdest thing ever. We were watching food network today and just seeing a slurry be prepared sent a shiver down my spine. Stupid thickening agent.

On Monday, they had a little party downstairs for Jake. One of the presents he got was these awesome erasers. I had a little collection of erasers when I  was young, but these are more awesome than those. He got another pack too, but they were just little chinese food type things, nothing as amusing as a poop-shaped eraser.
