Dust

Yesterday was a big day. Lots of new stuff for Ashley, lots of doing things for me.

Lisa and Matt came over in the early morning (8:30?) because Lisa was going to help me with the laundry while Matt stayed with the bub. Ash had been babysat by her grandpa alone once before, but she slept the whole time, so this was a new experience. He did a good job, other than not changing her diaper. We were only gone a bit over 3 hours, so it wasn’t too bad.

Lisa and I got everything clean. She’s fantastic, and I think with a bit of practice I may actually be able to properly fold fitted sheets like she does. It doesn’t seem too difficult. It’s funny, I didn’t think there was a way to fold them other than ridiculously blobby.

We also got Ashley’s birth certificate, so I am making progress towards getting her passport. Next step – get the form/s and see if our post office does baby passport photos.That’ll be very easy, I just have to remember next time I get to the post office.

I also got a haircut. I kinda hate it, it is ridiculously short. It just reaches my armpits when wet, and I know for most people that’s long but for me that is ridiculously short and I don’t like it! It feels weird and wrong. Hopefully all the terrible horrible split ends are gone. I miss my long hair. I remember when Ashley was born and I was trying to learn how to breastfeed and my hair kept tickling her face. I didn’t think my hair was long then, but ah.. now it gets nowhere near her.

Aw, Ash just woke from a nap. She likes to say "mmmm…. ah" when she wakes today. It’s so damn cute.

I don’t remember what else happened yesterday. It just felt like an exhausting day. By bedtime I was aching and slightly annoyed… oh yeah, Ashley pooped on my pants again, and it soaked through my undies. Ick. She went up to size 3 diapers this morning, so the last few days of size 2 were full of poop-splosions. My little girl weighs 16lb now. Yikes.

Oh yeah!! Ashley met another baby yesterday! Katrina (lovely lady who worked with Jake back in the day when we got married) came over with a biig basket of clothes for Ashley. Her little Prudence is 10 months old, 22lb and wearing 18month clothing, so they have a lot of fairly newish clothes because her baby only wore them once or twice before growing out of them all. Prue came with her this time, so we got to meet her. She’s pretty huge. The babies sat on the floor in the kitchen together and sort of smiled at each other, it was pretty cute. I sent Katrina off with a box full of clothes I don’t want to keep, diapers Ashley couldn’t use (silly huggies leaked every time!) and various bath washes/lotions that I got as shower gifts and aren’t going to use. She has a friend having a baby soon so it’ll get use. It’s nice to get rid of stuff I don’t want here and can’t ship off to friends. Now if only I could get rid of the big swing thing that we were gifted that Ashley has never used and only takes up space here. I’d feel too guilty to do that though, it was such a nice idea of a gift.
