Cotton candy italian ice.

Big weekend! But first… I don’t know what the hell was going on with my tummy. I still feel mildly sick (just a touch) when taking Ashley to bed, but other than that I’m good again. Even though it all mostly went away, I still checked to make sure I wasn’t pregnant (I’m not. I knew I wasn’t). Actually, I had to psych myself up for a few days to even go buy the test because I was freaking out at the possibility. After a few days I had convinced myself it would be okay, we could work with this… and so I was disappointed by the negative even though I knew that would be the result! Stupid pee sticks.

2 things I forgot to mention in my previous entry:

  • Mum and Natey are coming to visit! Seperately. Mum will be here end of September/early October, and Natey will be here for 2 weeks at the end of October. WOO! Natey would like to have thanksgiving when he’s here so I have to sort that out. Will be easy… except for the procurement of a turkey. That was tough last year and it will be even earlier this year. Ah well. WOO! Visitors!
  • I sliced my finger on the food processor’s slicer blade. Not bad, but enough to need bandaids. Every time Ashley saw the bandaids on my finger, she would say "ow" and then kiss it. Such a freakin cutie.
  • Have I mentioned that Ash has 8 teeth now? 6 on top (2 molars) and 2 on bottom. Those molars appeared out of nowhere. The only change in behaviour/attitude was that she started asking for nuts a lot. And cold chewies (frozen teething rings).

So, the weekend. Saturday was not much really, just a LOT of driving on the highway. We went to the Charter office to pick up a new modem (ours was apparently old so they wanted to give us a new one for free), and then to Costco and Stop & Shop. Ashley LOVES riding in the trolleys so she had a grand time. She was cracking us up at Costco because she was doing silly faces and going "weee!!" a lot.

I was silly and didn’t even bother trying to connect the modem until after Ashley went to bed, and then I found out the stupid thing was stupid and I had to call customer service. So I did that this morning (Sunday) and was amused because for the first time I got someone with a strong accent. Usually I get people with no accent, or if they do have accents it is… sort of Texan.

This afternoon we had plans to go to Red Robin for early dinner. Of course, for some reason I didn’t think about the fact it was 90F out, and my car has no air conditioning. We got about 15 minutes out (the place is an hour away) and I felt too guilty, like we were baking our baby, so we went to Maggie McFly’s instead, because it was rightthere. I had fish and chips (ridiculously small amount of food for a dinner portion) and Ashley stole some of my chips and lots of my ice.

On the way home, I noticed a strange noise. At the top of a long winding hill. That was a scary bit of driving. We got to the bottom of the hill, turned the corner, and not long after, the back tire popped. Right across the road from where we have previously had a tire pop! We got out and sat in the shade in the grass and Jake called his brother Nick to come help us, which he did, because he is awesome. We were sitting on the main road for more than 20 minutes before any randoms stopped to see if we needed help. I think we got 3 people stopping to see if we were ok after I started feeding Ash though. That was fun, breastfeeding on the side of a main road in 90F heat. Woo.

Nick and his wife Stacy came and put the crappy spare pretend tire on for us and it was so awesome to be able to get home. I was worried about Ash in the sun for so long because of course I didn’t have her hat or sunscreen… we were just going out to eat, I didn’t need those things! She doesn’t seem to be tan or burnt so that’s good. From her perspective we had an awesome afternoon. Went out to eat, got to sit and watch cars and trucks and motorbikes and see trees and touch grass. Then we came home and Mummy wanted to get lots of milk in her belly and then there was a fun bath with lots of water to pour on the floor and splash, and then dinner!

So now I have to make a phone call in the morning so Pete’s can get a new tire for me. Last time it took them a couple days. I’d really just love to get a new car. I really think Zebu is nearing the end. I am so glad it happened when it did, and that we decided to eat much closer to home so we were only 2 minutes away from home when the tire popped. If we had stuck with our original plan we would have been so far away and it would have sucked. Also would have sucked if this had happened yesterday when we were off doing errands and lots of highway driving.

Title: Is so weird but so good.

How scary that your tyre blew. And how good of Nick to come and help you. As you said, Ashley probably thought it was a great adventure.
