Blue bite

Went to the laundromat today. First time since Ash’s first time that it was okay. She and I walked all over the place for probably half an hour. She liked the bright colours on the claw machines and ms pacman. She got tired right around the time of the clothes being dry so she snuggled with her Daddy while I folded stuff. I loved taking her in her footie pjs, not much exposed skin to touch icky laundromat surfaces, plus she was cozy warm even though it was 16F outside. I got amused when someone came to me asking for help because she thought I worked there. Jake said it was because I looked put-together and knowledgeable. I could help so that was good.

On the way to the grocery store we had to go through town and backroads because the highway was so backed up there wasn’t movement. I wasn’t certain where I was going but I worked it out. I was so proud of myself! It meant Ashy got a slightly longer nap in the car so it worked well. She needed a good rest to help me through the grocery shopping with the crowds. So many people! I had fun being silly with Ash. She is awesome.

Ugh, I’m in pain. Not counting the… emptying in the week (or however long) post-birth, this is my first period in more than 2 years. I had forgotten what it was like. Such a hassle.

Tomorrow we are either going to Costco/the mall/Office Max, or we are just going to Staples. We need to get Ashy’s birthday present and that would be at the mall, but if I can’t be bothered going far we will go next town over to Staples because I need something folder-like to help me organise myself and work out plans of attack for my 101 in 1001 goal list. Plus, any excuse to go to a stationary store. Jake and I both love places like that. That and kitchen supply places. So fun to browse. Our state tax refund is going to be for helping with these goals, and dates and things, so I have to work it out so that money lasts a while. Preferably the whole year….

As I put on facebook the other day, Ashley told me a few times that her big blue plastic ring was “bue”, and tonight she offered me her rusk (like a really hard baby sized breadstick) and said “bite”. I love how many words she seems to know. My smart little cookie.

Parents can always take from their kids savings accounts. Essentially both ashley and you and jake (or one of you) would be on the account. She would have to have a parent signature to withdraw money (when she was older). I’m sure you could buy her stocks and bonds or cds.

Wow she really is amazing!

I went to Staples a couple of times in LA and was decidedly underwhelmed, but I think maybe it was that particular store. Also, on a stationery-related note – do you know if there is actually a decent blu-tac equivalent in America? I bought Staples brand for Johanna and it was pretty much like using chewing gum and everything fell off the wall within a few hours…

I think Ashley was saying blue for the blue cup and blue ring at my mum’s place. Certainly if I asked her for the blue one she picked the right colour. You know we saw the Staples truck on our road trip – there are no stores here just online shopping. Not as much fun as wandering around. We haven’t got Ashley’s birthday present yet. I know what I want to buy though and Peter will bringit over.

Ryn: I figured that might be the answer – I’ll just post over the proper kind 🙂

ryn: I was guessing Aussie must be different. It’s a really interesting thing b/c the countries are so similar in that they are both Eng speaking and either culture could visit the other country w/o running into any confusing social norms but… they are still different countries! And nearly as far apart by miles (kms, lol) as you can get! But yea, doesn’t surprise me that banks work differently:)
