bbq crazies
Ashley has worked out how to roll on her side. She may have been able to do this for a while, but I’ve only ever seen it when she’s laying next to me in bed and wants some food, so I always thought the slight slant in bed caused by my body was assisting her.
I don’t remember what we did during the second half of the week. I’m sure I could find out, but nuts to that. I know I didn’t try and get Ash to nap in her crib again, because bending over hurts too much. I figure I’ll try again when I can bend without emitting an involuntary loud noise.
Yesterday we were out ALL DAY. We got up at 7, left by 8:30. Didn’t get home until 10, we were all in bed by 11:30 (would have been earlier but Ash was fussy). We went to spend the day with Jake’s mum. We got to her place at just after 10 and she met us at the car because she was so excited to see Ashley again.
We did a lot, but at the same time it feels like we didn’t do much because so much time was spent just sitting around, hanging out. We went to the spa where Lisa works so Ashley could be shown off. Every time we walked by a group of people, there was a cute chorus of "aww, baby!" Then we had lunch at Ruby Tuesday, where I had a smokehouse burger. I’m just craving bbq flavours so much lately, and the burger was good but it wasn’t bbq-y enough.
Next stop was Target, where we bought THE ENTIRE WORLD. Or at least it felt like it.Lisa bought Ashley some adorable clothes (in the last 24 hours she’s worn at least 4 new onesies) and we bought a whole pile of diapers and me some new sandals (finally! My old dead pair I got in… 2004 maybe? Might have been 2003.) and fantastically awesome socks. I’m a little annoyed, the diapers claimed to be 15% off but I’m pretty sure we got no discount. I didn’t notice at the checkout because I was super annoyed at myself for forgetting to bring our gift card.
On the way back to the apartment, we stopped at the laundry room of Lisa’s apartment complex. It was so nice to sit in a comfortable location while the clothes got clean and then dry. I didn’t have to do anything, which I loved. Jake and Lisa put the stuff in the washers while I stayed in the car with the baby (she was going to feed but I figured may as well wait 5 minutes and feed in the privacy of the apartment where there wasn’t a guy constantly coming to the door of the building and looking at us.), Lisa transfered the stuff to the dryer by herself, and then when all the stuff was done, I had a baby napping on me (hahaha, that was planned, I didn’t want to go out). I even got to sit and ‘supervise’ for a little while until Ashley woke up.
Ok, I just accidentally wrote Jake instead of Ashley for the second time this entry. I hope that hasn’t happened at other points without me noticing. I’m a little word-confused today, Ashley was wearing a onesie with elephants on it and twice I called them giraffes. Or was it 3 times? I almost did it again while typing just now. At least they both have long things coming off the head.
Once Ashley woke up, I propped her up between the couch arm and a pile of my folded pants. She sat there and supervised us folding stuff until she got hot, so we moved to the bed, where I laid her down and fanned her with a magazine. I know she was just hot, but it’s more fun to think she was feeling not enough like a princess.
I had wanted to leave at 7, but Matt (Jake’s stepdad) didn’t get home until a bit after, so we waited around for him, finally leaving at 8:15. It did mean Ashley fussed a lot during the night and woke up crazy early, but it was worth it.
Today we haven’t done much. Ashley has had many long naps, I think she is making up for the few, short naps she had yesterday. She was too busy looking at all the new stuff which was understandable. She seems to be trying to fall asleep again right now, which is better than falling asleep at 8 when we are trying to Skype with my parents. Yay, parents! This time it should be Dad as well as Mum, and they will be on a computer with a webcam so we’ll actually be able to see them! YAY!
Oh man, that picture is cute. Words don’t happen when I’m looking at that smooshy little face. Aww. She looks so grownup now.
She really does look so grownup! I love the sink bath picture too. I miss those days. ^_^

It’s crazy how fast they grow and change, isn’t it? I mean, Rhea is hardly recognizable now from that tiny little dark-haird creature I brought home a year ago! ~jo
