Ashley got new wheels, so did I.
This week has taken FOREVER to pass. On Tuesday, I made plans with Nick to go look at a car on Saturday morning. So I kept wanting it to be Saturday, all week. Drove me a bit crazy really.
On Wednesday, or maybe Thursday, I slept terribly the night before so I woke up so tired I couldn’t really sit up. That was fun. However, it made me appreciate just how many things Ashley can do. She tells me when she needs a diaper change, sometimes she even walks over to the change table (other times she asks me "carry you?"), she can pick out her outfit and even help me dress her (mostly by standing still and raising arms/legs). She can turn on the lounge room light (foot pedal on the lamp, best thing ever!), and the tap in the bathroom (but she can’t turn it off yet). She finally worked out how to open our bin (another foot pedal, she bends down, presses the button, then stands up and puts the diaper in the bin before it shuts itself) so she can take her pee-diapers and put them in the bin for us. She is tall now so she can open all the drawers of our dresser so she likes to get me all my clothes, including underwear, after I have a shower. So even though my so-tired-I-am-horizontal feeling disappeared after an hour or so, I marveled all day long at how awesome my baby is.
Friday was an awesome day. Ashley and I cleaned in the morning (she followed me around with her dustpan, mostly sweeping my knees but still! And occasionally she would put things in the bin or in another room for me) so the place was nice and sparkly. After nap we went downstairs to see Daddy/Barb/Kerry/Laurie (who Ashley calls "woogie" for some reason) but it was too nice to stay inside so we went out to look at flowers. This resulted in us going for a walk, up the street a bit to the lights, crossing over to the other side, back down the street to cross at the crossing near the post office, and then home again. Ashley walked THE WHOLE WAY. We stopped frequently to wave at buses. It was just a beautiful walk. Then it was back inside to tell Kerry how many buses we saw (8!) until Ashley wanted to go in the backyard and play in the pool. Gotta play in the pool as much as possible before it is always too cold! After pool we went back out front to watch the second round of buses (6!) and then when we went into the restaurant again, Russ (our landlord, Jake’s boss) had a present for Ashley. An awesome pink tricycle! With streamers on the handlebars and a little trunk to put toys in and… oh, Ashley loves her bike. LOVES IT. She spent ages pushing it back and forth that afternoon. And checking all the pieces moved right. Today we pushed her around the apartment, with her feet resting on the pedals. She moved by herself maybe 2 inches, but she’ll get there. She is so in love with her bike.
Today. Car shopping day. Nick showed up about 9. I fed Ashley and gave her lots and lots and lots of cuddles, and then Nick and I left not long after 9:30. Looked at the car I mentioned in my previous entry, went for a bit of a test drive (which was odd, because it currently doesn’t have a rear view mirror, which is hard to drive without) and then sat around for ages waiting to see if our credit application would be approved. Because I am unemployed, Nick had to co-sign which was awesome of him to do. Left a down payment and we go back maybe Monday if all things are ready to sign ass-loads of paperwork.
When I got home, it was nap time, and then straight after nap Jake and Ashley went for a walk, so I didn’t really get to spend time with my baby until about 4. Seemed really really weird. She is crying for me right now, so even though I have more words to write, I have to go to her.
I’m curious to know how you keep Ashley from eating crayons when she colors. She’s so helpful! Wish mine were that way. 😉
