So far…

Its been going pretty good so far with school, except for my Spanish Civ class… its so much different than my Hispanic American Civ class from last semester, and its the only class where there is no discussion, just a straight up lecture. I dont like that, and it makes it so hard for me to retain any information when my instructor goes 90 miles a minute and I dont have time to write notes. Its only the 3rd week in and I’ve already bombed two quizzes in his class. The second one frustrated me so badly that all I did was write my name on it, turn it in, and walk out. I’m seeing my therapist tomorrow and today after class I talked to my professor and he’s letting me make up the quizzes next week. For any K Staters, Dr Salvador Oropesa is the tits, take a class from him.

Now then, my Spanish for Health Professions class is a breeze. Getting my volunteer time in, however, will not be. I’ve been trying to get in touch with a lady at the Riley County/Manhattan Health Department and after one email, one office visit and one phone call I feel like I am going to have to step it up a notch in order to get this nailed down, which I have to know where I will do my hours by next week.

Expository Writing… I hate it, but its required so I have to take it anyways, I’ll be fine in that class. We’re about to start writing our visual analysis papers and blah blah blah, its basically my Spanish Comp and Grammar class but in English. Lame.

Intro to Spanish Lit is probably my favorite so far, I like my instructor, my study group is me and two other guys, one that speaks Spanish very well and the other is a freshman who has studied abroad in Spain already. We just had our first exam today and I am very confident that I did well.

Work is going okay… just getting tired of the drama that another girl keeps bringing to the table, its annoying. She badmouths the residents, all the other girls hate her, and she is lazy. Yesterday she made some snarky comment about me and I wasnt even there. Its whatever. All I know is that the higher ups at Meadowlark actually like me: I was asked to join the Wellness Circle, which is a group of staff that discuss residents in need of additional care or services. I was asked to represent the restaurant since we see a lot of the residents on a daily basis. I really do enjoy my job. Its been great so far.

Was supposed to go to New Orleans with my friend Tara but I cant miss school… so I’m going to do Dallas and NYC for Spring Break! Visiting friends in Dallas for the first part of the week then flying over to NYC to see my old roomie Jerimiah. I’m really excited!

Did my taxes yesterday… got a good $3,000 return. YES!

Not much else to say. I’m just glad I am staying on top of things. EDIT: That is a lie, I declared my secondary major this week, so now I am majoring in Modern Languages, International and Area Studies, and minoring in Mass Communications. YESSSSSSS!
