the pros and cons of not knowing

there are good and bad aspects of not knowing quite where, or even if you will be working each day.  substituting is a somewhat welcome pain in the ass.

pro – you dont have to make any of your own lesson plans, less work.
con – you dont have any choice over what you teach the students.

pro – its a different environment every day, with new stuff to do
con – students tend to treat you like shit.

pro – if the kids are being rude, you dont have to see them the next day
con – if your feelings are easily hurt, its a stressful job.

pro – the flexibility of the calendar is a nice break from the daily grind.
con – you never know if you will be working enough to make ends meet.

im back in the school that didnt hire me today.  im subbing in a science class and doing D.A.R.E. stuff with them.  not the dare program, but one that is similar.  im going to have to pick up a second job for the weekends i think, that way i can make sure that we will be able to meet our bills.

i suggest that any of you who have a little free time go out and find some music by mason jennings.  a song called "crown" is especially good.

im doing my best to stay on top of things and just let it all roll off.  you know, equilibrium and all that.

see you on the flip-side.

Equilibrium and all that indeed. Hope the pros start to balance out those cons sooner rather than later!:)

I’m seeing Mason Jennings in concert when I go to NYC! He’s opening for Guster! And whatever school doesn’t hire you is just plain stupid.

This could also relate to snakey…pro – we don’t have to buy mice to feed him anymore, con – we have absolutely no idea when he will jump out from his hiding space, or who he will attack. Sigh. Losing the snake is almost as bad as the marco polo stunt. I heart you. -a
