I don’t feel like I have much to say, but as though I should keep writing since I’ve done more in the last month than I have in the last year or so.

Since I wrote last, the following has happened –

On Wednesday Aryn said that she definitely wanted a divorce. She then left for her Vegas weekend.

On Thursday and Friday I finished up subbing for a teacher who had his first child, and then I drove to Portland for Bill and Tiffany’s wedding weekend. We had a rehearsal dinner followed by a lot of drinking and way too many people in a hot tub.

Saturday was the check-in day at the hotel, and as everyone sobered up and stumbled in I helped bring in the bride and groom’s things since I was the first one there. We stayed at the Grand Lodge Mcminneman’s in Forest Grove. Interesting place. I think that they were glad to see us go when we left Monday morning. We wandered around in robes, ran through the halls, fell into the soaking pool, and generally acted like drunken fools.

On Sunday, everyone crawled downstairs for a quick breakfast and run-through before pictures. We wore light khaki pants, white shirts, with espresso ties/suspenders. The groom wore a light colored linen suit with a fedora – no tie, just suspenders. The "Right Reverend James" made the happy couple a martini during the ceremony and it just continued from there. The open bar was swamped all night and people made speeches (one mushy, the rest really, really inappropriate), and danced like fools… Thriller + drunk me = lots of laughter. At the end of the reception all of the groomsmen climbed onto the stage for a "Sweet Caroline" sing/shout/slur-along which was followed by some ill-advised stage diving/falling.

After the ceremony, we wandered around the grounds, drank more, had chicken fights in the soaking pool while running up to the room over and over to fill water bottles with wine until we were kicked out of there, and at one point around 130 I ordered a round of Cajun Tots for the wedding party and everyone else in that bar. Best/worst decision ever. We closed down the bar and went outside to drink more beers and smoke cigars in the rain, under the patio cover.

In the morning we had breakfast and went our separate ways to cope with our three day hangovers.

I went to Springfield to visit the school I would be at and sit in on a collaboration meeting with the teachers I will be working with. I found out that while there are several "Power Standards" that they expect the kids to know at the end of the year, the path we take is entirely up to the teacher – which is both exciting and terrifying.

I viewed and signed a reservation contract on the condo I will be living in once I move down to Springfield.  It needs some serious painting though.  After that all I had to look forward to was a long drive back to Yakima.

After not speaking to Aryn all weekend, except a few "I survived last night" texts here and there, we met up and talked – mostly about how we were both having a hard time with this and that we miss each other.  I don’t know.  Sometimes I feel like this might be alright, and other times it’s like nothing will ever be better between us.  We will see I guess.

Oh yes, the district called me yesterday, 12 hours after I got back to tell me to come down and sign paperwork……

So I get to do another 800 mile round trip on Monday/Tuesday.  Yay.

So that’s my weekend.  I’m still tired.  I need a weekend after my weekend.

I’m glad you got to see a lot of friends and had a fun weekend. It sounds like a blast! I kinda wish I was at the wedding… haha!
