Snowmagedon 2018

The kids are home from school today and we’ve gotten so much snow that I’m not even sure I could get out of my driveway at this point, even if I needed to. Luckily, I don’t have to work today but we have two set ups tomorrow so I’m headed out at like 7:00 am – which means, our driveway needs to be cleared sometime tonight. I drive a small car that is pretty low to the ground and I’m sure I’d get stuck. My husband is working late tonight on a huge project that is ramping up for Monday, my oldest son is sick with a stomach bug and I’ve been having sciatic pain problems. I finally relented and called someone to plow the driveway tonight to make sure I can get out in the morning. It’s February and we’ve been keeping up with it all winter by ourselves but we’ve gotten a good 5″ since last night and could get up to 8″ more by midnight tonight. I’m waving the white flag and shelling out the $30 to let someone else take care of it. If only the road commission would come and do our subdivision because even if I can get out of the driveway, if the roads aren’t clear who knows if I’ll even make it to work? Ugh. Weather anxiety sucks.

Yesterday I participated in college and career day at my son’s high school. I set up a table and talked to kids that were interested in my job. It was a good experience and I’d do it again but being on my feet really took a toll on my back – and I even wore comfy shoes! But every time I moved last night it woke me up. My hips and lower back are not feeling good today. I’m hoping once I get up and moving around, get some ibuprofen in me, it will feel better. Honestly, moving sometimes helps more than resting.  Every time this pain flairs up I get so angry at the kid that ran a red light and broadsided me. Stupid no-fault insurance in Michigan; I was only able to recoup my medical costs but once they close the case you can’t get any more money for medical and they closed my case long ago. Unfortunately sometimes chronic things like this don’t become apparent for a while and I’m stuck with the pain and cost. Oh well, that’s life. lol

I slept in quite late today and have been kind of slacking so I want to try to make use of the rest of the afternoon. I’m going to wash & change our sheets, get the bathrooms cleaned and maybe cut the boys’ hair. They both need haircuts so bad. Thinking a big pot of chili for dinner sounds good.

@thediarymaster – seems like I remember you lived in Michigan at some point, right? Good old Lake Michigan and lake affect snow. I live in the mid-Michigan area near the thumb.

@seriously_1 yes, grew up there and loved it! Unfortunately don’t live there anymore.

I do not envy your snow. Being able to sleep in is my favorite thing to do and when we get snow days, I get excited for the sleep, not the snow…

@swtgapch Girl, I was so happy when I woke up this morning and saw that school was closed. I snuggled back in and went right back to sleep. I’m grateful to have a job that is so flexible.

Snow is awful. Especially when it gets in the way of getting where you need to go. My neighborhood is maintained really well though, plows are always going by. Hopefully they will keep up with yours!

I always enjoy the snow. For me, the more, the better
