Color Me Surprised. Or Don’t. Cause I’m Not.

I’m pretty frustrated with Open Diary. I’m not super surprised that there are issues but I was hopeful that I’d be able to jump back in and use it right away.

It’s been three days since I started “restoring” my old diary. I’m still getting a message that it’s restoring and may take up to 24 hours. And I don’t even think it’s the right diary – I think it’s one that I created and never really used. lol. Which, if that’s the case, it’s NOT a big diary. I’m pretty sure the diary that I actually used was deleted before The End.

I have added five people to my friends list. Each time I click on one of their names, it tells me that I don’t have access to that page. So I’m not sure if they haven’t written anything yet or it’s a glitch or….???? Maybe their diaries are still restoring, too?

I can’t figure out how to access my notes once I’ve read them unless I go back to the actual entry to read them.

And the no search feature? Yeah, that’s stupid.

I’ll give it another week or two and if things don’t improve, I won’t be around. It’s too frustrating.

It is pretty frustrating, hopefully the slowness and glitches etc. are just because so many people came rushing back all at once and it’ll smooth itself out once everyone’s calmed down. I have hope, anyway! My diary finished restoring pretty quickly but I only got four or five entries back out of hundreds that I know were on here. Search feature is apparently coming (who actually knows when though) and the friend thing might be because they haven’t accepted your request yet? That’s just a guess though. Either way, I hope you do end up sticking around!

Good Morning! The Diary Master has written a couple of updates that have answers to a couple things you mentioned.

We have been working over the past two days on improving the performance of the site, you should see that being much better today and going forward. Diary restorations are catching up from the flood we had on the first day – we should be through with everything we have in the queue now in the next twenty-four hours. If you don’t see your entries by then (you too, @colourmyworld) please let us know through the Support link at the bottom of the page so we can check on it.
