In which our Hero says nothing all that new about the Nocturne situation but at least he apologizes for it, and really, that’s the point isn’t it? Unless the point is that last bit at the bottom where he asks for suggestions for things to write about.

So, before Nocturne complains again that my diary is boring and I should write something, I figure I had better get myself back into a writing groove. It’s hard right now. Work is angsty between politics and the current uncertainty around my job. Life is… not happy with my performance, though I’m happy with how I’m trending. Most of the good stuff is happening with Nocturne, go figure, which is fantastic, but then again, she is far far away.

So a mini Nocturne FAQ:

Why haven’t you and her hung out yet?

Because she’s where she is and me being there is non-trivially disruptive because I can’t just pop in and out.

So where exactly is she?

Still can’t say. I did come up with a few smart-assclever hints but the one idea came out just sounding coy and the other idea, giving just a latitude or a longitude, well that might be interesting except that it’s not that easy to find somewhere that will show just a latitude or a longitude.

When are you and her going to finally spend some time together?

I’m actually not comfortable sharing this either, Gentle Reader, and I’m really sorry for that. It’s just that previously plans have fallen through and I think this time things are vastly different and much more concrete but I have to allow for her flexibility and if the situation changes, I just need the space to be quietly crushed alone. But it’s getting close enough that I’m starting to think about haircut schedule (and scowl at hairline). I promise that after we’ve spent that time together, I’ll bring the stories straight here.

I really do appreciate the support, encouragement and even the sanity-checks.

I think Andel’s mother pegged me much more accurately when she called me a twerp. I mean, sure, in principle, my inclinations run in a romantic direction but I really suspect that a real romantic is the guy who thinks to send his lady a picture of himself and adds the funny giraffe picture as an afterthought. Versus the guy who thinks his sweetie desperately needs a picture of a giraffe and only thinks of adding a picture of himself at the last minute. (It’s not an unromantic thought. I mean it’s a really *cute* giraffe)

But Nocturne just… Something happens around her. I don’t think of things to do to be sweet to her, they just seem perfectly logical and reasonable at the time. I mean, I put in extra effort when I think there’s an occasion, like our anniversary or if it’s a day that has an A in it. But I don’t think “This is something sweet to do for Nocturne,” I just try to take care of her and only discover I’d been romantic when I hear Nocturne react to something I just did for her cause it was for her.

That said, I was pleased with how the necklace turned out. Even if she’s using it for a toothpick (her words, don’t yell at me), it was pretty and suited her. I may be a boy, but at least some of my romantic is intentional.
