coworker
After I had 2 days off work for the plumbing issues, I went back to work. I went in, did the job I was doing last week. A lady came in a little later, asked what I was doing. She informed me I was doing “her job”. She moved all of my stuff around, forcing me to do something else. This was on Wednesday.
Thursday came around, boss told me to do a specific job. About an hour later, this same coworker, Mary, was told to help me. Mary’s body language wasn’t great, her attitude was sour, the tone of her voice was condescending. I left work Thursday feeling awful, feeling sad.
Friday morning, Victoria and I worked together. I told Victoria about the situation on Thursday with Mary. There was paperwork issues (Victoria only works part time, Victoria left work early Thursday, I was helping her do her job til she left, that’s when Mary had to help me). Victoria called out Mary on the paperwork. Mary had the attitude/tone in her voice with Victoria.
Friday, Victoria and I talked to our boss about Mary and how she’s been treating people. As I was explaining my issues, boss ended up saying, “Mary is contradicting herself because of….” (boss explained rest of the story). It’s true, Mary was contradicting herself. Victoria explained her issues about Mary being bossy, needing to be in control and tell people what to do.
Boss pulled Mary into her office. I’m not sure how long Mary was in the office. As soon as Mary got out, she went and talked to 2 people about me! I told boss that Mary was going around talking about me (not in a good way). Boss asked when this happened. I said it happened about 5 minutes prior. Boss said, “since she left my office? I just talked to her about that.”
Even towards the end of the day Mary talked to a 3rd person about me, saying I lied to our boss. Boss asked me as I was leaving how things were. I told her Mary kept continuing to talk about me.
At one point Mary asked me, “Did you tell people I was barking out orders?” I said no, I never said she was barking out orders. Deep down I felt that she was barking out orders. This guy Ron used the phrase ‘barking out orders’ to Mary. She believes him. I believe Ron used that phrase as a joke and how Mary needed to calm down. But Mary took it the wrong way, blaming me.
Yes, I should ignore Mary and the way her attitude and tone towards me….but it still bothers me. There are more polite ways to say things and polite ways to treat people.
I would tell her to fuck off. But that would cost me… but that is me… I feel sorry for you.
@littleavocado I want to. But don’t want to lose my job (especially now, since places might not be hiring. I’m at least secure now). Just frustrating dealing with her
