Eve of Our Anniversary

Gentle Hearts,

It’s the Eve of Our Anniversary!  It’s difficult to believe that tomorrow marks the one year Anniversary of our Civil Wedding Ceremony.  I still remember the day vividly to a candid view and a whiff of the smell of that day vivid in my alfactory.   It was a hot day in my hometown and Hubby and I awoke at 6AM and kissed each other.  I had a bath and did my makeup nicely and straight away set out to iron my Fiance’s Jess Jones Suit.  Our Maid of Honour, Ivonne, came at ten A.M. and helped me dress.  I had selected a white two piece dress from Sears with poet’s sleeves. Ivonne bought me a small bouquet of white roses and Alex a matching boutenneire.

Our ceremony began at Noon on 1 July 2004 at the Town Hall.  We went to the Court Room and Judge Amarylis Hernandez married us swiftly.  Holding each other’s hands Alex and I exchanged vows.  Alex cried as he looked into my eyes and was about to pronounce his vows.  I held his hands tightly and reassured him.  He pronounced his vows to me and then we exchanged rings.  Judge Amarylis pronounced us Man and Wife.  We were now legally married!

After the Ceremony my parents, maid of honour and my husband and I went to the Rainbow Buffet to have lunch. It was a wonder that we waited till the Church Wedding on 8 August to consumate the marriage.  We had to observe tradition and it wasn’t long till our long awaited Church Wedding on August 8th! That was our proper Wedding with 150 of our friends and families from the United States and United Kingdom attending.

                                                        The Anniversary Waltz

Anniversary Waltz
     Performed by: Sal Grippaldi

Oh, how we danced on the night we were wed
we vowed our true love though a word wasn’t said
The world was in bloom, there were stars in the skies
except for the few that were there in your eyes

Dear as I held you close in my arms
Angels were singing a hymn to your charms
Two hearts gently beating, murmuring low
Darling, I love you so

The night seemed to fade into blossoming dawn
the sun shone anew but the dance lingered on
Could we but relive that sweet moment sublime
We’d find that our love is unaltered by time
