something minor and quiet and peaceful and slow
my god i am bad at updating.
so i went to the white mountains in new hampshire for the last couple days with the girls i nanny. (i really don’t write about them here much, despite the fact that they are the biggest part of my life in the summer. they are 10 and 12 and this is my 5th summer nannying them fulltime, but i’ve had the oldest at gymnastics since before she was 2). they have a really cute house up there. it’s over a 4 hour drive but totally worth it. i brought mason and he would like to live there forever.
it’s just so, so peaceful. mountains are kind of like the ocean to me, in how they are so tremendous and so beautiful that they shrink all of your problems in comparison until they are so trivial and YOU are so trivial that you can’t imagine why you ever mattered enough to worry in the first place.
we did a few hikes, my favorite of which was a place called arethusa falls. it’s a couple miles out into the woods and you feel like you’re heading into the middle of nowhere when it suddenly opens up to this absolutely amazing, gigantic waterfall. we got caught in a thunderstorm and downpour on the way back and got soaked to the bone. i never wanted it to end.
there is more-lots of time spent at their river which was awesome, outlet shopping, amazing fish tacos and salmon quesadillas and ice cream, playing board games and mad libs at night, but for now i will leave you with my favorite quotes from each girl for this mini vacay:
me: guys, that liscense plate says nova scotia!
aly: what?! there’s no such thing as that!
jordyn: we went skiing last year near my birthday, on black friday (her bday is april 11)
me: jordyn, your birthday is nowhere near black friday
jordyn: yes it is, the friday before easter!
i really, really don’t want this summer to end.
aw – lovely xo

this just reminds me how much we don’t write down. you know? it makes me jealosu of the people who write about their days, the ins and outs, because i feel like i lose these moments in between entries about my patheticness.

I love outlet shopping 😉 RYN: That’s good to know! I have a feeling she’ll still be somewhat distracted.
