Week in Review and Upcoming Weekend

Dear Diary,

This week felt really busy! The surprise addition of scouts this week kicked things up a notch.  I made contact on Tuesday to see if the timing was right for Reagan and it turned out that he is just at the right age to join at the very beginning level.  (June 1st is technically the date but they’ve let him begin a couple of weeks early)   Tuesday evening there happened to be an event on auto safety.  We went and he earned a badge!  Wednesday evening I worked a bit late in order to leave early today.  Once I was done with some extra time I went to the Scouts store and got Reagan’s uniform pieces.  That night I had a Close to my Heart papercrafting gathering to go to.  Both Wednesday and Thursday I worked on the paperwork for joining scouts.  Thursday on my lunch and again after work I was hand sewing on the patches for Reagan’s uniform shirt.  This turned out to be tricker than expected.  Some I had to redo a time or three.  Thursday evening we met with the leaders to go through the paperwork, pay our dues and sign up for some summer events.

Here are a few scouting pics…

This was taken at the Automotive Safety event.  They learned proper safety restraint use, how to get out if ever locked in a trunk, a bit about OnStar and then about the driver’s area of vision when in the driver’s seat and using the mirrors.

That afternoon some of his new clothes arrived in the mail so he tried it on and wore it to this event….

Some of the boys waiting patiently…

Recieving his first badge for learing Automotive Safety…

The group with their new badges…

The boys also were each given a tote bag and flash light.  I won a drawing for a big suitcase type duffel, an umbrella/ flashlight, and a fleece blanket….

This was last night before the meeting.  He didn’t have his kerchief yet.  They gave it to him later that evening….

These three numbers and then the larger patch above were 4 of the 5 I handsewed on yesterday.  It was the numbers I was having trouble getting sewed on straight.

Pretty cute!

Today is a dressdown day at school…. no uniform.  Reagan is proud enough of his new cub scout uniform that he wanted to wear it to school.  I thought that was pretty cute.  I did have him wear something else though.

This morning Reagan told me he had a surprise for me out in the yard.  He took me out to the row of Peonies to show me they were starting to bloom.  Very sweet! He knows I get a big kick out of that sort of thing.  I hope they don’t get too far along on the three day weekend.  I hate to miss the whole show!  It is supposed to be a bit cool.  That might prolong the process.

The strawberries will probably be ready for a harvest when we get back, too.  Some are starting to turn red.  They are loaded with green berries right now though.  Can you see them all alaong the brick edge just below the greenery?  They are all within the greenery, too.  Yum!  Now I just have to hope the birds don’t get to them.

A few more fun in the yard pics…

Reagan and the boy next door enjoying bomb pops earlier in the week….

Upside down with his fluffy hair on the tire swing next door.  We are pushing the haircut limits.  I did trim a few spots this week.  I think we are doing a buzz type cut this summer again.  I’d like to wait for school to wrap up though.

Mr. Cute Stuff!

We are leaving in just a couple of hours for a weekend at the shore.  I called down to the little community where we stay and the pool will open today.  The forecast is a wee bit chilly.  Hopefully we’ll feel warm enough for beach and pool days.

I have some fun projects packed….. Some card making and then a cute camping album using last weekend’s camping pictures. I guess that is it for now.

Happy Friday!  AND Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

YaY !!!! We LOVE our Scout group, I hope he has so much fun !!!

Ohhh, Scouting time, eh? I had a LOT of Scouts, and I found that using iron-on (fusible) webbing to fasten the badges to the sashes and shirts saved LOADS of time, reduced the “pucker” of sewing the thin fabric to the thick badge AND spared me from the dreaded finger-pricks!

He is so cute!!! I can’t believe he’s so big!

He looks so handsome in his uniform! So sweet! Have a great time at the beach! I’m so jealous! I’m helping at a 5k-10k run in the morning. I’ll be at a station to give water and encouragement to the runners. I have to be there at 7:30AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A nap is in my future for tomorrow!! Have a great and safe weekend! *HUGS*

Our strawberry plant doesn’t yield much. We only got a couple ripe ones last year and they got stolen by the wildlife. 🙂 We had frost last night. Kind of annoying considering it’s Memorial Day weekend!

Yeah for Boy Scouts! I feel like he is such an explorer and adventurer that this is perfect for him. I was a Girl Scout up until part of high school and it was such a good experience. I hope your shore weekend was warm. It’s dipped low here…50 to 55 degrees. Too chilly! Ashley
