Venice! *pics*
Dear Diary,
I’m back from my trip and finally getting settled back into my routine. I got home Sunday evening but it took me the week to catch up some and get to where I was ready to share pictures.
The entire vacation is about 1450 pictures! I’ve ordered just over 400 to scrapbook. I’ll try to narrow down what I’m sharing here, too.
I worked a half day on Thursday (the 26th) and then headed to the airport. The flight was pleasant. It was overnight. I was able to sleep some. I also watched a couple of movies (Admission and A Good Year).
I arrived in Venice in the 9am hour, got luggage and then had a transfer to the hotel. I was pleased that the room was ready in the morning.
The room was nice….
I didn’t take long at the hotel before heading back out for sightseeing. There was a train station along the back side of the hotel so catching it into Venice was a breeze. The train station drops you practically where the water bus stations are…. easy, peasy!
Hello, Venice!
A little canal side cafe….
This is the kind of stuff I can’t get enough of….
so pretty….
This is what the water buses that run throught Venice and to the Marsh Islands look like…
The little side canals make me happy!
The little dock on the left with the yellow stripe is a water bus station…. They’re everywhere and the service is pretty constant.
Gondolas!
I feel like you can’t take a bad picture here….
Heading under a bridge….
The striped poles make me smile, too…
approaching another bridge..
I got off of the water bus at St. Marks Square. I did look into taking a gondola ride but decided to pass. I love photographing them but don’t really feel the need to be in one.
This was a cute corner off of St Mark’s square…
St. Marks pigeons…
I sat down and had lunch in the square…
yum!<br/>
black cherry gelato….
gorgeous….
music on the square….
I ate within this section…
Back in a water bus…. St Marks from the canal….
Never ending boat crushes!
What a special spot that little balcony is!
Love the colors….
…. and exposed brick….
So… and exciting first day of sightseeing. The next day I get on the ship and head for Greece…. stay tuned…..
The train back to the hotel….
The Crowne Plaza was in Quarto d’Altino….
The End for day one….

Venice is one of those places I always think only exists in movies. Because surely real life doesn’t look like that. How amazing to see that every day.
