Santorini, Greece *Pics* (trip entry #4)
Dear Diary,
My favorite (new to me) place this trip was found on Santorini. I really loved Oia. As I’ve pictured visiting Greece someplace like Oia is where I’ve dreamed of being. Anyway… we’ll get to those pictures….
These first few are from before I got off the ship on the morning of Santorini….
The main atrium area of the ship. There is a lot of glass type work on board. And this ship use to be Pride of Hawaii and has lots of Hawaiian touches. These Hibiscus and tropical flowers on the ceiling are an example of both….
A little rock island spotted from the balcony as the ship approaches Santorini….
Love looking down the side of the ship to see this…. It gives this content, relaxed feeling. The wake on the back of the ship gives me the same feeling. *swoons*
Looking back at that same rock island…
Santorini itself is a big (volcanic) rock island and then the buildings are piled up high on the rock cliffs….
tenders like this took us from the anchored ship to the island…
Getting off the tender and looking back at the Jade…
The tour group I was with for the day boarded this bus….
Getting closer to the buildings piled on the mountains…
After a quick photo stop we continued on to a winery…
As you looked back down towards the sea you could spot the ship….
There was outdoor seating overlooking the sea view…
Wine, cheese, olives, bread were included in this stop. I usually take pics of those sort of goodies but there doesn’t seem to be one…
We drove through Fira on the way to Oia…
Another snippet of pretty view from the bus….
Our next stop was Oia…
Little trinkets like these were typical souvenirs…. I brought home a couple and have one on my desk at work…
A very pretty church in Oia…
Loved this sailboat sign for a little antique shop in this area….

Little nooks like this just *melt* me….
Lots of pretty yard and building touches…
cafe….
*LOVE*
A great book store!
I don’t think this view could ever get old…
Of all the places I saw on this trip Oia is the place I’d most likely ache to return to. If I did I’d stay here…. It’s a Best Western… I’ve tucked that little fact away for possible future use…..
There was a really great puppet shop!
Gelato time!
my pick….
<div class="zoomPicturePreviewDiv”>
A crumbling "full of character" building…
An incredibly sweet spot…
The Pinnochio in this sidewalk shop is a lot like the one I bought in 2006 during a trip to Italy….
yours truly….
boat crush!
back on the bus now…. windmills like this one are typical on the Greek Isles….
another pretty view from the bus…
Last stop of the evening was a restaurant called Lolos…
More wine…
Lots of Greek goodness….
There was a Greek Style Fiesta with dancing….
I did join in on the dancing once they invited us to join and learn. And then eventually we got to the plate breaking portion of the fiesta….
I’m not sure what I was expecting but what happened is that these plaster type plates were flying in all directions through the dinning room onto the dance floor. It was not like anything I’ve experienced before….. fun stuff!
my, oh my!
The menu on the way out….

On the tender back to the ship….
floating home away from home….
And the towel puppy that evening…
Quite a day!
Thank you for sharing these very interesting pictures.

I’m trying to understand. You went alone? Who took your pictures? Did you buy anything neat for home?

Your photos are stunning! And I see your library thing is working just fine. My updates weren’t showing on my friends’ bookmarks and someone told me to remove my LibraryThing. Seeing yours makes me miss having it up. I think I’m going to add it again.
