Riding the Rails
Dear Diary,
I’m officially on my way into NYC. I decided to take an Amtrak train in and so far, so good. With stopping a handful of times to pick up passengers it is just over a 3 hour trip in. They have wireless but something seems to be wrong with it. I have the hotspot on my phone that I can turn on and I can connect with my mini laptop that way. That is what I’ve done. I’m all charged but I was pleased to see that they have 120V outlets at each seat. Very convenient if needed!
The boys brought me to the train station this morning which is only about a 10 minute drive from home. This will be the longest I’ve ever been away from Reagan. I’ve done a night or two a few times but this will be 4 nights. We both feel a little sad about it but I know we’ll be okay. I have all his things for the four days of school set out for him. Keith is capable of doing this but I usually take care of those things. I also left Reagan with a little gift for each day I’m gone. He has a checklist to complete each day before opening the gift… Pick up toys, practice piano, brush and floss, take care of pets and then depending on the weather I may need him to water my outdoor potted plants one of the days, too. We can call and skype. And I left him with the snuggly blanket I usually wrap up in. I told him he can wrap up in it if he misses me and need to feel close to me. He plans to sleep in it. This time apart will be a bit of a warm up because the trip I’m taking the end of September into October to Venice and then the Greek Isles is during school and Reagan is staying home with Keith.
I should arrive in the city today a bit before noon. I plan on taking a taxi to the hotel and hopefully I’ll be able to check in early. If not I’ll just leave my suitcase at the hotel and head out to explore for the afternoon. It is supposed to be 60 and sunny. I’m looking forward to lots and lots of walking while sightseeing.
I finished the Disneyland scrapbook yesterday. I only had about 10 pages left. I photographed it to share here soon. Next I’ll be tackling the CA Adventure book and then I’ll be completely done scrapping spring break. I have a bit of recent events to catch up on, too. Easter, a bit of Kindergarten stuff and that quick trip I made to the beach a month or so ago. next weekend I should have time for scrapping. The weekend after that will kick off beach season for us. So looking forward to long, warm beach days with my Love Bug
Reagan’s piano recital went well this past week. He played Mary had a Little Lamb. He has a new reward chart at home now. He’s supposed to play a song we call Cuckoo 100 times.
I have a pretest to take for the HR seminar I’m taking the next few days so I’m going to try and tackle that now.
Okay, unless I stay busier than expected I’ll update from the city.
Happy Sunday!
i hope you can get some exploring in 🙂

LOVE the to do list followed by a gift. That is just phenomenol! Let me know how the HR retreat is. I’d love to know all about it. I wondered if you had read Wonder? I thought it was a lovely book and you may even be able to read it to Reagan. I think it’s apprpriate for the 6 year old level.
