Love, Justice and Harmony *pics*

Dear Diary,

Last night was the Memorial Day parade in our little town.  Reagan’s new Scout troop was participating.  I met the guys at our local library / community center when I finished at the office.  Reagan was all set in his full uniform.  It melts me!  Daddy is smitten with it, too.  I had everything ironed and together before I left for work in the morning but the boys got it all on, etc….

Looking pretty cute!

A very serious pose choice…

Keith took a picture of me taking a picture of Reagan…. We’re a mess!  Mama and Papa-razzi!  I had come right from work so I slipped off my heels and cardigan and slipped on my flip-flops.  I was good to go!  I should mention that we’ve been hot here.  Highs just above 90.  That’s suppose to continue through our camping weekend.  Good swimming weather!

Keith and I were talking with some of the Scout leaders while waiting.  I was watching Reagan from a bit of a distance.  I thought this was a cute moment…. some tree inspection….

And he met Girl Scouts….. notice he’s wearing a pair of one of their star sunglasses….  He’s tucked behind the two girls in the center.  He was mingling with several little groups during the wait.  It makes me happy to see him socialize with such ease.

Just hanging out…

Just before the parade….  They have candy to pass out to children along the parade route…..

Parade time!  Such a cutie!

I went and sat with our neighbors who were gathered for the parade.  Here’s the troop approaching where we were sitting…

This little boy in front of Keith and Reagan is a year older than Reagan and he won my heart last night.  I asked him the how he earned his Tiger Cub paw with the four cords that contain beads and little washers.  He, very seriously, in the sweetest voice, using hand gestures, told me it  represented love, justice and harmony with friends and family.   The scout leader heard his answer and asked the boy’s dad (another leader) if he had heard.  I guess that his answer wasn’t technically correct. The leader explained that there are about 15+  tasks to complete, etc.  I let him know that the little boy’s answer was so much cuter.  And what more can you really ask your boy to strive for than love, justice and harmony with friends and family.  It seems like a lot of what the Scouts do encompass those ideals so maybe the little guy was just giving me the big picture rather than the details of each task.  It was a precious, priceless moment though!

They took turns carrying the banner…

Here is a video of Reagan during the parade…

This was either after the parade or after the Memorial Day ceremony at the cemetery.  Keith walked the parade route with Reagan and the troop and then went along with Reagan to the cemetery.  By how sad they all look it seems like maybe they just finished at the cemetery.    I guess they had all just walked miles in the heat, too.  I would have told them a joke but I wasn’t there.  I was hanging out with the neighbors….

After the parade we all gathered for a barbeque.  Our previous tenants came back for the parade and barbeque.  I got to hold their new baby who is all love and smiles and coos.  Such a gem.  We had a nice evening.  I had the cupcakes to make for Kindergarten last night after all the festivities.  We got it all done though.

Tonight into the morning I need to finish packing for camping.  I’d like to finish the teacher’s end of the year thank you cards.  It would be nice tomake them gift card holders to go along with the cards.   I’d love to scrap some but that might be pushing it.  I have a bit of laundry to do before we leave.  I want that done before we come home on sunday with camp laundry.  I should do some more tidying around the house, too.

Tomorrow we have a soccer gathering, then a pool party birthday.  In between the two  I plan to purchae all the end of the year thank you gifts  cards for the teachers at Target.  I ended up with the goal amount to purchase the four main teachers $100 gift cards,  Plus what is needed to purchase the 8 additional specials teachers $25 gift cards, PLUS enough for two more $25 gift cards so we can give a thank you to the Head of the Lower School and the Lower School Secretary.  So, I feel good about all of that.  About 25 of the 28 families contributed which seems like good participation.  One of the families left for Japan for the summer a couple of weeks ago and gave a gift seperately before leaving.   So, technically that leaves only 2.

We’ll be done with the pool party birthday at 1 and will head to the campground.  Last night the neighbors were still a bit undecided about joining us.  She is supposed to let me know tonight.  She’s worried about being hot overnight, if she can set up her brother’s tent, how her son will sleep in a tent, etc.

A couple of years ago Keith’s dad gave Reagan a really cute wooden, model sail boat.  Iv’e had it hanging, displayed in his room all along but it has never set sail.  I have it set aside to bring camping with us.  I’m envisioning really cute pictures of Reagan with it in the swimming pond.  Hopefully all of that works out!

I’d also like to teach Reagan how to play Ringers with marbles.  There is a Marble Cub Scout belt loop he can earn but aside from that I think we’d have fun with it.  I may try to squeeze it in while camping but fishing, mini golf, swimming will all come first.  We can always learn the marbles game at home or where we stay at the shore some other time.  So many fun things, so little time!

It’s going to be a good weekend!

Oh! One more thing…. A cute picture of Reagan from this morning.  We brought in another batch of peonies for a coworker this morning.  Reagan was adorable carrying them in.  My arms were full of cupcakes!  Once I sat the cupcakes down I pulled out my camera to get a pic of him with the flowers…

Happy Friday!

So cute!!! What a fun time to get to be in a parade!

OHGOSH. The “Very serious” pose is ADORABLE.

What is the difference between the orange hat (and.. scarf? tie? whatever is around their necks) and yellow?

Love the picture of him holding the flowers. What a wonderful memory he will have of marching in the parade. I know I do of when I marched . Also, when my dad, a vet, walked every Memorial and 4th of the July parades, I would sit on the steps of city hall to watch the parade and for him.

Reagan’s adorable. 🙂 RYN: Thank you! I’m finally starting to feel like all this hard work is paying off!

You are so sweet to the teachers!
