Lego Land Discovery Center *pics*
Dear Diary,
The day after Reagan’s actual birthday I was able to schedule off of work to take him on a little adventure! We made a three hour drive to the Yonkers / Westchester NY area to visit the recently opened (this spring) Lego Land Discovery Center.
Before leaving for the day Reagan opened another couple of gifts from Keith and I.
Excited!
Big Grin!
The two gifts were Lego Hero Factory sets. I prepared a travel case and he entertained himself on part of the trip by assembling and playing with these…
We left the house at about 6:45 am. I thought we would have a sit down breakfast at a nearby restaurant before we made our long drive but the restaurant wasn’t even open yet. We voted for McD’s and continued on our way.
The Lego place opened at 10 and we arrived right around then. There were signs for each attraction as you approached. Reagan checked them all out!
There were some play stations in the area where you wait in line that I thought were cool. I also liked how the line posts were filled with legos!
You know I’m a sucker for details! Look how the entrance is shaped like a minifigure! And the register is covered in legos, too!
A map of the place….
Some more cool displays as you enter….
Reagan running from creepy things…
The first section you enter is a bit of a factory simulation with mixing, painting, molding, etc. When you leave that area you get to take a special Lego Discovery Center labeled brick…
Painting…..
Under that pipe is where the finished Lego brick you get to take as a souvenir…
Reagan with the minifigures….
Leaving the factory area….
This was cute! It tells you how many Lego bricks tall you are…
The next section you enter is a ride called Kingdom Quest….
The scenes along the Castle Quest ride….. Each seat had a dash mounted target gun and you could score points by hitting the targets along the way on the ride.
more targets…
Reagan during the ride….
This is what the ride car looked like for Castle Quest….
Moving on through the center Mini Land is next….
This whole section was filled with Lego displays. Most had a NYC connection. A construction site outside the city…
A bridge crossing into the city….
The Times Square area and city Lego store. I’m not sure how I didn’t know about the Lego store in the city??
The little jumbo tron in Times Square showed Reagan and I on it…
Is that the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings in these next couple… (I think)
Ground Zero….
Statue of Liberty and Staten Island Ferry…
Metropolitan Museum of Art….
Look at the adorable horse and carriage in Central Park!
The aviary in Central Park Zoo….
Reagan got a big kick out of the subway down below….
he liked the gator in the subway…
Flat Iron Building…
Reagan was excited to spot the Bat Mobile. The lucky boy got his own Lego Bat Mobile later in the weekend.
This is the Stock Exchange with the Bull statue…

There was a window peeking inside a building where you could see this disco….
And another window showed an apartment…
A picture perfect postcard scene….
Yankee’s Stadium….
All the minifigures in the seats are too much fun!
This next one depicts the Ridgeway Shopping district in Yonkers/ Westchester where the Lego Land Discovery Center is….
I liked the playground…
A casual pose as we enter the next section…
We took a restroom break. They details continued so you get bathroom pics! Look at the stall doors!
And the janitor closet…
And these wall hangings were done with Lego bricks… A Minifigure with stacks of toilet paper…..
And a Minifigure primping…..
Construction zone!
Apparently Reagan got his hand stuck in the Lego mixer….
The next area we explored allowed us to build little race cars and then test them.
We both built cars…
The two test tracks….
There was a cute Lego Duplo Village area for smaller kids… I liked the puppy!
and the giraffe…
Reagan was sure he was too grown up for this kiddie area but humored me by letting me take his picture in the lego brick pit… These were spongy so this area is similar to a foam or ball pit….
I can’t remember what they called this next area…. Lego Friends maybe…. it is the girl Lego area. Again, not Reagan’s first choice but I snapped a few pics…
The play kitchen in the Friends area….
Reagan was in flip flops and needed to have socks for one of the play place areas. We bought socks at the snack bar. I liked the little lunch kits in the lego boxes…
Going for a ride…
Reagan took a little Master Builder’s Academy class while there…
The classroom….
Listening for instructions…
Tower with base building….
The other ride at the Discovery Center was Merlin themed…
This is a bit blurry but it was one of those rides that went round and round up in the air. A typical kiddie ride..
There was a theater that showed a few different 4-D Lego movies…
Checking out the Lego ticket taker!
We saw a Clutch Powers movie in 4-D….
Relaxing before the movie in our 4-D glasses…
The big play area was called the Lego Fire Academy. I got this cute picture of Reagan with a stack of those big Legos…
Time to go…. the exit sent us out into the Lego store. Part of Reagan’s birthday present was being able to pick out something from the store…
I love the lego walls like this….
Reagan picked out a Lego Batman set….
We also got a couple of Lego Land souvenir pennies on our way out…

Omgosh, what GREAT pictures! I love it! I didn’t realize they had these huge lego stores complete with rides! That’s my downfall with the girls. They could really care less about legos. 🙁

That haircut makes him look older (well, he did just celebrate a birthday!). Legos have come a long way since I was a kid.

I love the picture of the city made of legos. Did you notice there was a toilet in that picture and on that picture of the toilet it says I Pood? LOL

How fun! I bet my son would have loved that place when he was Reagan’s age. Come to think of it, he’d probably love it now.
