Happy Campers *pics*

Dear Diary,

Our little camping trip was a lot of fun.  The highlight was that I finally had a successful fishing trip with Reagan.  I’ve taken him 4 or 5 times but this was the first time we caught anything.

The weather forecast was iffy but we went on our way in spite of it.

We brought the tiny tent since just Reagan and I were sleeping over.  We have a larger family tent for when Keith and Woody come along, too.

It sets up pretty easy.  Reagan was actively involved in set up….  I used an old vinyl table cloth for a base….

Extending the support posts…

He didn’t have to do it all by himself…

My cute boy!

There are little clips on the four corners he was attaching…

Attaching the rain fly…

Reagan used a rock to tap the tent stakes in…

We also brought his Thomas tent which almost pops up on it’s own.  We sort of set up a playroom inside for him. He is building legos back there on his boogie board table…

Reagan hopped on his scooter and we went in search of a good fishing spot…

Our little camp set up from a bit of a distance…

I decided to carry his pole while he concentrated on just scooting…

Heading into the woods and down to the lake…

Finding a good worm for Mommy to put on the hook….

I love this little dock we found for him to fish on.  Isn’t it just his size!?

And I love the way the tree reaches over the water and makes a reflection!

What is even better about this spot is that there are fish!

They’re blue gill sunnies….

Catch #2…..

We tried a different bait besides worms but decided worms worked best…

#3…

I wish the flash lit up his face more in this one above and then this next one…

There are a couple where he’s looking at the fish that are cute, too…

Reagan kept me pretty busy with rebaiting his hook and removing fish but I did fish a bit myself…

And caught one little one…. (It’s cuter when Reagan does it!)

Scootin’ back to camp…

Keith had been at an auction with his Dad about a half hour away.  He stopped in and spent some time with us.  He and Reagan built a campfire…

Relaxing by the campfire….

Smores time!

Love this boy!

Love this boy, too!

A smore for me!

A family pic! (minus Woody)

Reagan spent some time in the tent getting our bedding "just right!"

Showing us his soccer moves!

I’ve been bringing UNO cards with me on vacations since March (spring break and then each shore weekend) but I still had not squeezed in time to teach Reagan to play.  Finally, we taught him on Saturday.

This little guy melts me! Daddy is pretty smitten by him, too…

Getting another game out of his play tent….

This is a game I highly recommend called Road, Rails and Rivers.  Very fun!  Sort of like dominoes in a way…

You take turns building onto the network and end up with something like this…

The scrapbook store (that is on camping road just outside the campground) was only open until 5 so I left the boys for a bit around 4 and made a quick trip…

The front….

and back….  I found some fun stuff….. Reagan’s album for First Grade, an album to put his birthday celebrations in, lots of Lego scrap supplies which will be great for when I take him to the Lego Discovery Center for his birthday, a fun card kit I’ll take and work on at the shore and then some miscellaneous stuff.  I was only gone about a half hour and then joined the guys back at camp.

I got a picture of the camp sign as I drove back in….

When I got back the guys were spending a bit of time on the beach / playground….

We had changed Reagan into something a little warmer…

Some of the other kids were skipping rocks and Reagan gave it a try.  We’ll have to work on his technique…

Finding rocks…

I like this picture of Keith and Reagan walking back to the site.  Reagan found a dandelion and Keith found a stick….

He had worked up an appetite and made himself a big sandwich from one of those Lunchable sandwich kits…

We roasted more marshmellows…

Snuggling with Daddy while he has the Pringles from his Lunchable kit…

I finished getting our beds all set up…. complete with an electric blanket.  I think it was about 40 over night but we were cozy.  Keith was giving me a hard time about my electric blanket but I figured I might as well since we had electric in the site.  He went home and slept in a comfy bed so I don’t think he has much room to critique.    This next one shows the cord to the tent.

We took Reagan for a bike ride while we walked along and then headed back to our sweet fishing spot!

Reagan with the lake in the background…

Such a pretty spot!….

waiting patiently…

They’re still biting! #4

And #5…..

Heading back to camp…

I love this little Janie and Jack shirt with the porcupine, deer, campsign, etc…

Riding back…

Keith left for the evening.  Reagan and I enjoyed a hot shower, got in comfy pjs and then snuggled up in the tent.  He watched a movie in the tent…

While I read….

Not a great picture of me but still a sweet moment….

Reagan is still really getting a kick out of the Serendipity books from my childhood.  We read this one as our bedtime story together….

It did end up raining most of the night… sort of a drizzle.  We both slept well though.  Things were still wet in the morning.  We ended up loading up the car and heading home pretty early.  Once home I set up the tent again and over the day it dried out well.  I caught up on all the chores over the day which always feels good.  And today was back to work.

I took a couple of deck/ yard pics.  I had planned on taking more yard pics but got side tracked….

I think I’ll stop there for now.  I have a bit more to write about but will be back soon….

i love this trip. super cute.

What a fun camping trip. I’m glad his dad chose to have some fun, too!

In the picture where Reagan is eating his pringles, at first glance it looked like Keith’s legs were Reagan’s legs. My mind was playing a trick on me and it took about 4 looks to get it straightened out. It was funny to imagine Reagan’s little body with manly legs! 🙂
