Corfu, Greece *pics* (trip entry #3)

Dear Diary,

Trip recap so far….. Thur-air travel, Fri-sightseeing in Venice, Sat-board ship, Sun – sea day, and now…. Monday-Corfu, Greece…

I had a pretty nice tour booked in each of the ports.  It made for full days but I felt like I saw each place pretty thoroughly.

Here’s the view of the port in Corfu from the balcony on Monday morning…

Sunrise that morning and another ship arriving….

boat crush!

The first stop on the tour was what they called old town, Corfu.  There was a fortress there….

We did a quick walking tour through this part of the city and then had a bit of time on our own before continuing on with the tour.  A horse drawn carriage along the way….

pretty buildings…

I think this puppy out front this crooked store is charming…

A typical street in this area….

The crumbling facade of this building adds a lot of character to it…

precious…..

Someone drying their nightgown…. cute, right?

sweet pup!

I guess he works at this snack stand??

LOTS of sidewalk seating in this area….

Another horse drawn carriage…

Another photo of the entrance to the fort…

These little inlets were along the fort…

Ionian Lines… during this trip I made it to the Ionian and Agean Seas….

Cute boats!

The next stop on the tour was a palace….

It’s a bit hard to make out from this next pic but the home was at a high point on the island and had the best views…

and many statues…

pretty gardens…. Lantana…

The tour guide for the day….

A very pretty ceiling inside the palace…

Me… out front before moving on with the tour…

Mouse Island…

The next stop was a monastery…

The welcoming committee…

The monks make olive oil….

A pretty pathway with the sea beyond…

Inside the church…

offerings….

There were a lot of kitties….

My favorite….

still at the monastery…<br/>

to the olive oil shop….

olive mill / press….

Wine and olive oil….

honey, too….

sea view from the monastery…

We headed back down from the monastery to where the tour had lunch….

It was a cafe right on the water….. it rained some during lunch but was dry before and after.  The timing was good….

Wine and tzatziki….

another appetizer….

nice fresh salads were a constant…

The little bay that the restaurant overlooked…

Our bus for the day… and driver Andreas.  He’s an olive farmer when he isn’t driving tourists….

The restaurant….

Back on the ship… another view of the fort from the room balcony….

That evening’s towel animal….

And that wraps up Monday…. next day Santorini! (my favorite port of the trip)

Those buildings are just so gorgeous. You have a good eye. Your travel pics are always really neat. You’re rightÂ… the crumbling details of that building adds great character. The cat all cozy in the drain is just so precious. What a great trip!

Awwww, I love the pictures of the dogs and cats. The view from the monastery and the restaurant is beautiful. It was freezing cold here today so looking at these pictures is really making me wish for a vacation to somewhere warm!
