My new life as a house husband.
Being laid off isn’t all that bad. I got a pretty decent 6 weeks severence, and unemployment benfits works out to about $400 a week… which isn’t NEARLY what I was making before, but it will pay some bills untill I find some more work.
So… I promised myself I was going to sleep in today. That didn’t happen. Mike work me up at 6am for some nookie, which after scraping the crust off my eyes (SEXY!) I was into it.
I have an appt today at 11:30 with my trainer (shut up! It’s already paid for… I think I have like 10 sessions left) then off to Home Depot. While I’m off, Mike wants to take the opportunity to get some house projects completed (New tile and hardwood upstairs, painting the house)…. Just call me CinderEddie.
I’m fighting a little bit of the depression bug right now. It’s kind of a blow to the ego when shit like this happens. Although I’ve got a huge list of things that need to get done before I leave the house (vaccume, dishes…. the usual household stuff).
So I’m off.
You and anon should go on a road trip.

Think of it as a paid 6 week vacation. I mean, who gets those perks?! It’ll turn that frown upside down! And if you don’t get a job before the end of the month, come on down and be a carnie! I’m sure you can get those fried grilled cheese sandwiches for free with a few winks. (I’m wondering if they’ll allow me to add in the fried bacon before they fry my sandwich. Just in case there wasn’t enough grease already.)

So sorry to hear of the layoff :o( Didn’t you just recently get a promotion or something? That’s just…sucky man. But you know what? One door closes, and another one (hopefully one with a golden knob studded with diamonds!) opens. True dat! ;o) So in all seriousness, take the opportunity to pursue something you’ve always wanted to do, but felt you couldn’t risk it. Because really, you have nothing to lose. Right?~jo

You’re holding up well though, it sounds like. I really enjoyed having Melissa as a house husband when she was jobless.

LOL @ CinderEddie 🙂 I’m glad to hear that unemployment benefits will help with the bills, that’d be terrible if you had massive bills and nowhere near enough to cover them 🙁 But for what it’s worth I think you’re doing really well and I’d totally go to pieces, so hang in there a bit longer, you’ll find a new job soon I’m sure 🙂

Perhaps you recall Hamburger Mary’s. I used to work there and when it closed, of course I was laid off. I was all ready to find another job and stay in the rat race when my hubby said “Go for unemployment!” I had never been laid off, so I thought what the heck. It was worth it. Enjoy your time off.

I WISH I could have a smoke free Wichita. But nay. Everywhere underage (under 18) are permitted must me smoke free by tomorrow I think…OR you pay the city gov. hush money to be “Smoker friendly” OR you sequester the smokers and provide that seperate area a completely seperate ventillation system. my husband’s coworkers are PiSSED (machine shop) and now they can’t smoke. ha ha suckers
