Fire in the sky

Yesterday I was sitting on my couch and I happened to look up and see a warm glow coming thru the curtains.  So I got up and peeked out the front window and just as I had suspected, a beautiful sunset was forming.  I grabbed my phone and went out onto the front walkway and started taking pictures. The result is the main photo above.  Ever since I was a kid I have always been drawn to sunsets (and sunrises, though I see very few of those these days), cloud formations and other things seen in the sky.  It seems that winter produces the best sunsets (and probably sunrises) as the cloud patterns tend to be different than in warmer times of the year.  In 1980, when Mt. St. Helens erupted there were many really awesome sunsets for months afterwards. I remember borrowing my mom’s instant camera to try and snap some pictures of them.

Here are some more recent sunsets.

Here is one from a long time ago. I was traveling somewhere with my mom and for some reason we had a camera with us and we stopped alongside the road so I could get this picture.

Tonight before I go to bed I’m going to go out and try and get some shots of the moonlight on the snow.
