October.

It’s been forever. My last entry was in February and its now October. Lots of things have happened this year. Most are positive.

In May Shannon and I bought a house. It’s a 3 bedroom townhome, which seems to be what middle class people buy in this city. Where I’m from everyone has a single-family home so it took some getting used to that normal middle-class people have townhomes in big cities because single-family homes cost so much.

It’s a nice little home. We paid $320,000 and knocked the sellers down a bit. Only 3 years old and it had a ton of upgrades: ceramic flooring, dark hardwood, stainless steel appliances, a soaker tub in the on-suite, granite countertops. It’s nice to have a place we can call our own. We’ve been painting and redecorating and making it our own space. The bedrooms are a bit smaller than the previous home we were renting but we have a finished basement now with a walk-out patio so in the end we have more space anyway. I will need to post pictures eventually, but I always say that.

Our sweet little puppy, Chloe, is now 13 months old!!!! She is still ridiculously hyper and I cannot break her of the habit of jumping up on people, although its not as bad as it used to be. Otherwise she is pretty awesome. She has a great disposition. I am very glad we got her. We plan to build a fence in the spring, which I know she will love.

My job is great. The hours suck because it is a 24/7operation but I know this is just a step on my way to something bigger. I make really good money. A bunch of positions were just posted and I didn’t get any of them because the selection process was based on seniority alone. I’ve only been there 2 years and a bit so I have to put things into perspective. There are some more to be posted but they’re not permanent – still its something. And I know Ontario Works will put out postings soon as I can go over there and be a caseworker, and have daytime hours…. or people with more seniority will leave and I can move up. I know I will make it far with the city, I just have to be patient. I’m too good at my job – I know everyone and everything about the building. My supervisor knows this but because of the seniority dealie with the union she can’t do much. We just have to wait and see.

I would like to have a baby soon. But, I want to pay off some debt and maybe get a larger vehicle. Ideally I would like a permanent position at work. I know things will never be perfect but there are some things I want to accomplish first. I am strongly considering applying for my master’s degree. The deadline is December 1st. We would be fine to have a child now, but I don’t want to rush it either – we’ve only been married for a year and a bit and I feel like there are some things I want to accomplish first. I’m just an impatient person in general, however. I’m super impulsive but I feel like I need to be. It’s the driving force that gets things done in my life.

Today is my day off and I have done absolutely nothing. I slept til 3pm, ate cookies for breakfast, and I plan to continue doing nothing as well. 🙂 I haven’t had an unproductive day in forever, and I needed it.

I guess I don’t write anymore because I don’t feel like I have anything important to write about. People document their kids lives as they grow, or other important aspects of their lives but I just go to work each day and come home. Sure, life is more exciting than just that but I don’t think its worth writing down.

See you around!
