TOBE GIVEN TO MUM BEFORE I HOP ON TRAIN
To My Dearest Mother,
First of all, I’d like to thank you very much for having me here for so long, despite the fact that I was not able to help out with money this time as I would have liked to. I understand that, to you that has meant nothing, after all, "This is your home, Dee." But I rejoice deep inside when I am able to do so.
It’s 2 days till I leave… To be honest, I’m looking forward to arriving in Townsville. To my little house. To my own bedroom. Yeah… my own bedroom. Where Mimi – the big teddybear you gave me – is waiting for me. I’m looking forward to all those things…
But I don’t want to leave. Do I have to leave…? Is there any way I could arrive without leaving? I have to leave.
It has been a pleasure to be able to help out with the housework while you’ve had a broken leg, unable to get around. I have enjoyed every bit of it. It has been a good experience and I’ve learned a lot. I’ve learnt to understand children a teeny bit better and I am now able to appreciate all you’ve ever done for us. It’s true – being a housewife really is a full-time job and I can’t believe you’ve put up with it for 19 years. But I’ve learned not to be so selfish.
Thank you once again for everything…
Everything you’ve ever done for me.
Your support, your understanding, your listening ears, and for being MY mother!!
I hope your leg heals completely and I hope God will bless all your plans for the future.
Until next time,
Your Loving Daughter:
