Beyond Anything I Encounter
A BEAUTIFUL piece of writing………………………………….
"Memories are remarkable things…the way two people remember one event in two entirely different ways, yet both are confident that theirs is the accurate recollection.
Memories are persistent. Years after an event has transpired, a capsulized memory of that event can easily provoke chemical reactions to occur resulting in laughter, tears, shame–any of the myriad emotions that were first experienced when that memory was stored. Years later, after time has provided plenty of opportunity for the memory to die, it won’t.
It can’t.
Most curious to me is how distorted a memory can become. A person can live and breathe for decades beyond that lone memory…can love and learn and travel beyond and above it…can gain a broader perception of the universe and discover strengths and skills to survive, can embrace the beautiful resilience beyond that specific memory. And yet–despite all of it–the person can remain imprisoned in that particularly perfect memory."
