Less Blathering, More Slathering

current book:
Ugh, I have no books.  I need to go to the library.  I also need to do fourteen things for work, clean my apartment, clean out/organize my closets, and make appointments for an eye exam and a physical.

current mood:
Unmotivated, lethargic.

current music:
Lana Lana Lana. Yeah, there’s backlash to the backlash by this point, but there’s also awesomeness.

current shame-inducing guilty pleasure/indulgence:
IPL Fotofacial Friday night – it was weird but awesome.  They cover your body with a blankie, slather your face with this tingly gel, and then zap you all over with intense pulsed light.  I am pretty good about staying out of the sun so don’t have much sun damage but I already see a difference in clarity/smoothness….looooove.

current drink:
Water
K-Cup Coffee

current food:
Oranges
Baby spinach
Lean fish and meat
Lettuce
Baked Apples with ground cinnamon
(For those of you who asked about the food plan…that’s the food plan.)

current movie:
We went to a screening of Undefeated on Thursday.  It’s a documentary about a North Memphis underdog high school football team, very bittersweet.  Reminded me a bit of a football Hoop Dreams.  There was a reception afterwards with free booze and stadium style snacks like tiny pots of chili, miniature grilled cheeses, and cheesecake lollipops.  I ate some celery but had to leave immediately when I narrowly avoided tackling someone for their corndog on a stick.  I don’t even like corndogs.

current fetish:
Lara Stone in the Pirelli photos by Mario Sorrenti.

current wants:
Motivation
Willpower

current needs:
To get through the next month.  I need to stay organized and focused, but it is doable.

current bane of my existence:
Impromptu work trip due to other people’s poor planning.  It’s not the end of the world, but I didn’t really need an added degree of difficulty this week.

current disappointment:
One of S’s Valentine gifts is coming by UPS and I worked from home on Friday solely because I wanted to be there to receive delivery.  Our guy usually comes around 6pm, so I waited until 7pm and checked UPS.com – it said they’d been by, but "customer was not available."  Total lie!  Now I’m not home until like, Friday.  Arghhh.  Still better than that time they messed up and delivered all my worldly possessions to my office instead of my apartment.

current color(s):
Black black black black black.

current excitement:
This week has potential to be an extraordinary one.
Also, did you know that you can have M&M candies printed with a photo and your own message for like $40?  Not doing it myself but I think it’s thrilling so thought I’d share.

current wish list:
Successful completion of tomorrow and fun the rest of the week.
Perfectly tailored capsule wardrobe
Vintage steamer trunk
Paris Apartment
PhD funding from my employer
Travel/work dates to sync up well for this summer, fall, and next spring
A trip to Nepal

current outfit:
Black Calvin Klein sheath dress, black tights, charcoal pleated boiled wool blazer, black maryjane pumps.

current scent:
Orange peels and black coffee.

current inspiration:
Madonna winning the Super Bowl!

I had those M&M’s at my [first] wedding. They were a hit.

Madonna totally DID win the superbowl. Love love love her. Her tour dates were just announced, by the way – tickets on sale next week. 😉

February 7, 2012

M&m’s exciting!! I happen to love peanut m&m’s. My little brother’s birth announcement was rigged Hershey’s bar wrappers…. Thought that was a cute idea. Interesting meal plan. Baked apples w/cinnamon?! GENIUS.

I knew about that private messages on m&ms but I did not know about the picture. That’s pretty neat.

February 7, 2012

I really like her, I especially like how relatively classy she is for how young and attractive she is. She could be leading body first instead of voice first and she doesn’t.

February 7, 2012

J wanted to get me some M and M’s. The shipping on a 20.00 order was 19.00. No thanks.

I’m planning a trip to Nepal for later in the year! Yay for Nepal! 🙂

February 7, 2012

LOL. Total win for Madonna! CD xxx

For the “grandma shower” that one of Eileen’s friends hosted after the baby was born, they had pink M&Ms printed with “Ellie.” It was super cute, and also delicious.

mmm oranges <3

mmmmmm&ms. i wish we got the peanut butter ones over here

Slathered in life !

February 7, 2012

Love these entries. Also, very impressed with your will-power re the food plan! x

February 7, 2012

cute I have a million books to read… keep saying I’ll start this week but just haven’t go around to any of them yet.

February 7, 2012

UPS has repeated lied on our status, from “signature required” (delivered next day w/out one), to “incorrect address” (T picked it up at the facility and the address was perfect) to… whatever. SO annoying. nepal – me too! I love my kindle because I no longer have to go to the library for free books, I just log in online. Totally worth the price of a kindle. I just need more TIME to read.

February 7, 2012

On a monthly basis I find myself running after FedEx and ups trucks. How i dream of a 24 hrs doorman… I love the descriptions of your outfits. So stylish.

February 7, 2012

I have a friend who does the mm thing at every special occasion. I always throw them out. Can’t bring myself to eat her pixelated face 🙂

February 8, 2012

We gave those M&M’s out as wedding favors but just went with customzied words. Having people eat our faces was just too creepy.

yay for Madonna! other than the lethargy, everything sounds pretty awesome. but why do other people make things so hard?? i would feel terrible if i caused more work for someone else.

I knew about the customized m&m’s with words, but I had no idea about the pictures. I can only imagine what my face would look like on a wonky peanut m&m.

Ryn I was referring to the last one. The poo one was just odd.

February 8, 2012

ryn: by weird coincidence Peeping Sam works for the brokerage that showed me this apt. So random. he doesn’t work for that office (the one he works for is on my corner) so I doubt he’ll ever know and considering he has never approached me living a few feet away regardless i doubt he’d suddenly have the gumption to wait for me outside of this new one. I think I’d be happiest wiht a doorman, elevator, laundry building but also know I prefer space to luxury. As for neighborhood, I LOVE Hell’s Kitchen. It is my fave neighborhood. While i like the village and soho and even the EV I still prefer it to live and the others to visit. For me I feel like it is real NY. It has the biggest melding of types of people–gritty, rich living next to each other. So much action and noise. I like that. Tenth is a bit far west for me and I’d prefer betw 8th and 9th but beggars can’t be choosy. This new building is skanky and that makes me unhappy but again with my budget and requirements such as petfriendly, eat in kitchen and need for closet space, this is the closest I’m going to get for what I can afford. There are tons in East Harlem, Harlem and Wash Hgts but those areas are too gritty f

February 8, 2012

ryn: well, at least your regular UPS guy is good. Ours apparently is a flake. I think it happens when you are generally at the 6/7 pm slot on the route! Yes, I should wear sunglasses. Actually, i can’t really run in them, so a hat would have been appropriate. Wasn’t so sunny when I started! Yes, I think T is affected by stress right now. Hmph.

February 8, 2012

r: i see it! its in the slightly downturned wideset eyes.

February 8, 2012

ryn Yes I am totally doing that chart. Thanks for the idea.

Your motivation will come back. I bet the lethargy is connected to thR absence of corndogs in your world.

February 8, 2012

Lara Stone! DROOOOOOOOOL!

Man … I LOVE your currents 🙂

February 8, 2012

Thanks for your note re Charis. I’ve changed my diary to OD members (from OD Plus only). Thanks for letting me know.

I’m getting IPL Hair removal down in my lady parts, even the skin down there gets the benefits! I didn’t know it was also cor smoothness but I guess it makes sense 🙂 Oranges are also my snack du jour!

PhDs are overrated… it’ll cut into your travel time! (But I’m still bitter about my extra degrees not getting me what I wanted)

Wow….Madonna,eh?!? [YASW]

February 11, 2012

That M&Ms thing is insane. They’re so TINY, how do they fit photos on them. And how creepy if a guy I didn’t really know gave me a box of them with his tiny little head on all of them. Ha!I will have to check out the facial thing. Contemplating chemical peel. All kinds of little blemishes sun spots from years of eating fried food and being out in the sun. 🙁

February 11, 2012

I am hitting a wall on this go go go attitude I’ve had about opening the store. The list of requirements to open and the benefits seems smaller and smaller. But now I can’t NOT open. Sigh. My phone is so filled with to do lists it’s retarded. But the little beeps and alarms with reminders like “call landlord” DO help me get things done.

February 11, 2012

Madonna – what an entrance! And exit! She put on a great show. Question about Paris – could you recommend a fun neighborhood to look for a hotel?

February 13, 2012

RYN 32

February 13, 2012

RYN Hahaha no, not at all! She did delete a fair few people, I just couldn’t remember specifically who. But this time round if may well have been me drunkenly ODing at 4am or something and hitting the wrong things. I’ve done that before… :/ In any case, I have no recollection of doing so! Toutes choses dites, you’re back where you belong!

February 13, 2012

I love the quote on the front of your diary

February 14, 2012

Loved your note! This is exactly why I avoided those kinds of places in NY.

February 17, 2012

added. ryn: you may have. I have a tendency to disappear for long periods of time and be apathetic when I am here. i’m really nice though. I swear. like, diabolically so.

February 18, 2012

Hi!

RYN: I’ll give it to you. It’s well worth making. Sometimes I make it into cookies, sometimes I just eat a big glob of it with some vanilla ice cream. Yum! 2 c sugar 1/4 c cocoa 1 stick butter 1/2 c milk 1/2 c peanut butter (I actually split it into PB and Nutella, gives it a little something extra) 3 c oatmeal (1-minute quick) 1 tsp vanilla Mix sugar, cocoa, butter and milk in saucepan. Boil 1 minute. Remove from stove, add PB, oatmeal, and vanilla. Drop by teaspoon on waxed paper.

RYNx2: She’s doing okay, I think. Thanks for your concern. 🙂

Aha! You are one of the people who liked Madonna’s Superbowl show. I thought it was great. Hubby loathed it. There was controversy on the morning radio show I listen to for days after. Who cares if she lip synced? It was her own music and she recorded it herself, first. And my gawd – that she could strut those moves in heels like that, at her age!

February 20, 2012

I did know that about M&Ms! I looked at it as a party favor when we were getting married, but I thought it was a bit much. ~jo

February 20, 2012

ryn: I know, right?! All the hotels look the same! I don’t know what’s up with the teeth, but I’m glad they look so white! 😀

ryn: it used to be called Morning Relief, but then there was a replacement called Wake Up Call that was available as recently as 2(?) years ago? ANYWAY I am super sad about it. In other news, I think Big Shoulders will be my main race this year. Any tips for how to train for a race that long?
