Wednesday – Advance screening of medicore horror movie starring creepy model at one of my favorite screening rooms.  Highlights: Free popcorn and two glasses of red wine’s worth of leisurely conversation afterwards.

Thursday – My mom calls me at work, tells me they’ve decided to inter my grandmother’s remains on her birthday, which happens to be the next day.  I clear my schedule and take the train upstate the next morning.

Friday – Trip up goes smoothly, it is a sunny day at the cemetery and I have a nice lunch with my parents, brother, and sister after the interment.  We share stories about my grandmother.  After lunch I hung out with my folks for a while, take the train back to NYC, met S at Irving Plaza for The Pretty Reckless concert.  Concert was great, Taylor Momsen adorable, great stage presence and a good singer even.

Saturday – Malachite green mani/pedi, blowout, French class.  Then home to get dressed for our event that night.  This was a special dinner exactly 100 years from the last meal served on the Titanic, and the event was a recreation/re-imagining of that night’s menu.  At first I tought it was kind of a morbid idea, but their focus was really on celebrating the glamour of the historic ship and transatlantic voyages of the time…wondering what if they had made it across?

All we were told was to dress formally, then show up to the Northwest corner of 17th and Broadway, and that there would be a girl with a yellow flower in her hair.  We needed to say to her, "Miss – the Captain is expecting us," and she would direct us where to go.  And so she did.  Overall a very unique night.  People were decked out…which I love.  You can read more and see pictures here, here, and I’ll post some too, including my dress and most importantly…the menu:

The next few days were pretty quiet. I had to go to Texas for work for a few days and came back with horrible allergies from something there.  I got back late Friday night and cancelled everything for Saturday, it was tough even for me to make it to class to be honest.  This past week we’ve been going to lots of Tribeca Film Festival screenings and events but I think I will write a separate entry for all of those.

ryn: I know!! I almost posted that picture, and tagged her up on facebook! It was totally coincidence that we went there, but as soon as my friend suggested it, I was like, YES! I’ve heard so much about that place, lol.

Okay wow. You look absolutely stunning and I just love your dress! Plus, it looks like such an amazing evening. 🙂 You know for a moment there I was taken aback by your Taylor Momsen comments – it took me a while to remember that she is a totally different person (I hope) from Jenny Humphrey, whom I hated with a passion on GG even though, let’s face it, she’s not even real!

It’s been a while since I’ve been here. Glad to see you’re doing so well! 🙂

ryn: I keep meaning to write an entry but my laptop blew out during the tornados and I’m working again…6 days a week and I was even in pjs at 6:30 one night last week. And then things change. It’s like I can’t catch up. I need a day off!! But then I need to mow the lawn… Which suburb???

I had some reproduction teak steamers made to the plans of the Titanic chairs. I liked to sit out on my deck by the water and sip champagne and think of my sailing days. LOL Life is fun with some doing and some imagination. 🙂

Are you still at your own apt in NYC? I still have your address somewhere and have often thought I should send you a “house warming” as the original one sucked but I think of you often. I have a slim book of pictures from the Titanic. If I find your address or you send it I will mail it to you instead of selling it in my books. That would be nice as I love my books and others just want things… Costco. They actually brag how they shop at Costco. ???? I went to a Costco about 7 years ago, in Japan. hmmmm It works. The Kirklands have a 15M ski chalet here with a helipad. hmmm
