Feeling a bit fed up
We should be in the car on our way to the West Midlands by now. We are going to a gathering of the Friends of John Denver UK group tomorrow and are staying overnight tonight because I never know how my health is going to be in the mornings, so it’s easier if I we go the night before.
Unfortunately Hubby has lost the cat’s tablets and has had to go to the vet for some more. I found this out literally as we were going through the door. He had told me that my son knew when to give them to her and the dosage, but when I checked it turned out Chris didn’t know anything about it. Hubby was sure he had told him. This happens all of the time. He means too and then is convinced he has. Then when I went to show Chris the tablets Hubby couldn’t find them.
It can be quite wearing living with Hubby’s problems. He has severe short term memory problems, is disorganised and finds concentration really hard. We are sure he has ADD but can’t get it diagnosed. Here in the UK they are reluctant to diagnose adults, especially if they are as old as Hubby – he’s 66 now and we have been trying to get help for him for about 8 years.
I realised he probably has ADD when we found our daughter has it and I started reading books and realised his symptoms matched. Until then I had often thought he was just being awkward. I feel bad about that now, but it’s hard and he was in denial about his problems, he thought it was me!
He’s gone off to the vet to get some more tablets. We rang him and he said the cat has to have them every day so Hubby has had to drive a 24 mile round trip to get them. We had a big row with the local vet after Hubby forgot to pay him and told me he had. I really should check up on him more, especially now that I know he has problems, but it’s so hard when I am ill a lot of the time and Hubby has this way of telling me not to worry he will do it, I should just trust him etc. and, like a fool I listen.
I may as well as go and feed the other cats now as we are still here. I had ideas of a nostalgic trip to Wolverhampton this evening. Both my parents grew up there and I have found, since exploring the family tree, that my father’s side was there from the late 18th century at least, I wanted to go and find places where they lived as we are staying just a few miles away, but it will probably be just a quick shower and bed by the time we get there.
Just realised it’s Friday 13th!
now that you realize your hubby has this problem, you’re just gonna have to check up on him without him knowing and hurting his feelings. enjoy your weekend. i LOVE john denver! take care,
