Catch up and Snow!

My first entry this year. Actually it is my first for over 4 months!

My last entry was about a weekend away in August. Well since then we had a lovely 5 day break in Devon in September. October was sad because my younger son split with his girlfriend of two and a half years. He is now living at home again. Christmas was quiet but enjoyable. Just Hubby and I and the 2 boys. The TV was very good for once. Christmas episodes of ‘Call the Midwife’ (I’ve read all of the books) and ‘Downton Abbey’ on Chritmas Day, and the film Miss Potter on Boxing Day. Atonement was on too, which is one of my favourite films, but unfortunately to late for me as it didn’t finish until 1.30am!

Cat, my daughter, spent the holiday with her boyfriend. That relationship seems to be going well. She came up on January 6th with presents.

We are more or less snowed in today. It’s the first fall of snow of the winter. I do quite enjoy it. It looks so beautiful on the branches of the trees. My Cat used to say it was like Narnia. This is our front garden this afternoon.

We went to see  Les Miserables on Wednesday. What an amazing film! I have been playing the songs from the stage show ever since.

I am still working my way through the Poldark books. I have been doing this for just over 2 years since our last holiday in Cornwall. Of course I am reading other books in between! It’s funny because I have just fnished the 11th book in which there is a lot set in France around the time of the Battle of Waterloo and now going to see Les Miserables I realised how little I know about French history so I think I will read up on that. If this snow continues I will have plenty of time for reading.
