My check came….and now disappeared!

I am so frustrated!  Let me warm you up with how well my day started before I get there!

Last night I went online and saw my check had cleared and I decided to get ahead on bills….a beautiful concept!  I paid $800 towards my car and $200 for my cell phone.  Now I don’t owe money until end of March, unless I want to keep ahead – which I plan on doing.

My day started leisurly.  I slept in, showered, lounged around.  Decided around 1230 to go to the library and return some over due books. Before I left the apartment I stopped by the office to tell them my mailbox key won’t open my mailbox.  She puts in a work order to have one made, it should be ready Monday.  Luckily I’m not waiting for anything important.  I then went to the library and  I paid my $4.40 fine

From there I went to Payless.  I needed some flats to bring with me to the Philippines.  I literally don’t own any flats.  I have one pair of old sneakers that I don’t like to wear – and that is it!  I have traveled around 3 Canadian cities, 2 Mexican cities, and Japan in heels….I needed flats.  I found a pair of cute kswiss style sneakers and a pair of very cute beaded flat sandles.  I paid about $35 for both pairs….good deal!

On my drive from there, I was stopped at a light and the guy in a Bronco next to me motioned for me to roll down my window.  I did and he asked me if I knew where the closest Bank of America was.  I was telling him as the light turned green.  We were the first two cars in line.  As he started to thank me the cars behind started honking.  We both started to go slowly and continued to talk.  He asked me how I liked my liberty, as we coasted at about 12 MPH through the light.  I told him I liked it a lot.  He asked me how much I paid.  I told him about $22k as we reached whopping speads of about 20 MPH.  He then asked me if I was single.  My tongue froze up and I started to say yes, but no came out.  Why did I say NO??? He was cute and nice.  It was too late and if we didn’t hit 45 MPH soon the traffic behind us would behead us both for carrying on a conversation between my passenger window and his driver window.  I said no, what is wrong with me??!??  He said okay, it was worth asking.  He thanked me for my help and we both resumed speed limit speeds and went on our way.  I was smiling, very flattered, and wondering again, why I said no!  As I reached the next light to turn left he rode by and waved.  I then realized….I gave him the wrong directions!  HA….guess it was a good thing he didn’t have my number to call and yell at me.  I still wish I could see him again!

My next stop was to the city ticket office for work.  I needed to buy my tickets.  The tickets are supposed to be milage based so if you are flying from The Bay Area (San Francisco, San Jose, or Oakland) to say the DC Area (National, Dulles, or Baltimore) you only need one ticket for the largest number of miles one of the routings would be, and you are set.  However, many Asian carriers and some others require that the city pairs be exact.  On my outbound I know I am flying from Vancouver to Manila nonstop.  On the way home I may route through Soul, or Narita to LA so I needed 4 tickets – 1 from Manila to each of the connection cities and one from there to LA.

While the agent was working on my tickets I browsed around our company store.  I saw these great Airline Flight Attendant Barbie-Size dolls….2 of my nieces have birthdays in February so I thought they would be perfect.  I spent $29 in the dolls.

I went back to pay for my tickets and the agent informs me only two of the ticket routings went through on my card.  Okay, how can this be.  I just deposited $8500 check plus I got paid.  Now I know that only $4000 grand of the $8500 was mine to spend….but there was still over $9000 in my account!  How could all of the highlighted items above and two tickets make me broke.  I called the banking number and checked my acount balance….. -$100 in my account.  How could I be negative.  I started paniking…did I accidently pay $8000 instead of $800 for my car payment….two and a half times more then I owe on it???  Did someone make fraudulant purchases on my account???  What???  I decided to go to work and look up my account.

That is when I truly paniked….my $8500 check had been taken out and a note online said "dr payee not on account."  OH MY GOD….I DIDN’T NOTICE THAT THE DAMN INSURANCE COMPANY HAD PUT THE DR AS A 2ND PAYEE!!!!!!!!!!!  HOW COULD I NOT HAVE NOTICED THIS????  AND WORSE YET, WHERE IS MY CHECK, HOW DO I GET IT BACK???????????????????  I called the bank and after verrifying I was me 6,000 different ways (if anyone ever fraudulently gets my bank info out of BofA….I am sueing someone…it was hard for me to remember all that about me!)  She told me it would have gotten mailed out today to me and should arrive as soon as the US mail would arrive.  UGH!  I can’t wait that long!  Fine.

I freak out some more and decide I should call the branch I deposited it in the ATM and see if maybe  it hadn’t been mailed out yet and I could pick it up.  No such luck.  I ask this lady about any overdraft fees….she says if overdraft fees post to my account I can call the bank manager and they may be able to take them off.  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Remember the whole….key won’t work in mailbox at the beginning of this????  Oh yeah….can’t even check for the check tomorrow!  Although, Ashley told me a wrench or pliers will work….I may try it tomorrow!

I could go on about how horrible work has been…but it is too exhausting to think about.

In good news, my interview yesterday ROCKED.  I had never met, Tess, a new manager to the West center.  She was great.  I knew Linda a little bit, she came from the West about a month ago and is also very great.  I did the oral interview for about an hour.  After I had to take a written portion.  It was all quite easy and a little fun.  When I brought Tess back the written part she shook my hand again and said "I look forward to working with you."  Hey, that’s my line!  But, OH MY GOODNESS….she looks forward to working with me!  That is amazing.  That sounds to me that i have the job.  Linda came by my managers office later when I was in there with my manager and 2 co-workers.  Linda put her arm around me and gave me a small hug.  She said "I can’t say anything….but….you were awesome.  You  did very well."  She game me another small hug.  AHHHH-YAYYY!  I really want this job.  I know they have two more interviews…but I hope that I come back from Manila and hear the good news!  I need that $4/hr raise and new responsibilities.  PPPPLEASE!
