No Chicken Dinner!

Lynn and I went to the casino in Anderson, IN this morning. This is the first time since the pandemic started that we’ve been anywhere outside of work and the grocery store. And while I was okay with it when we were there, there were signs things are not okay on the ground. (Keep in mind that Anderson, IN was in the news lately for having 100 cases of Covid throughout its school system.) Their website says they have hand sanitizing stations throughout the casino and they periodically wipe down all their machines. We were there two and a half hours and saw no real evidence of this. Upkeep of the property seems to have taken a bit of a dip. And Lynn overheard one of the workers say, “If it weren’t for this job, I would’ve lost my house.” So, yeah, despite the dozens of maskless people walking around the smoking section of the casino floor, the pandemic is still affecting the day to day operations of the place, a property that has always kind of limped along.

As for the gambling, we lost a total of around $35.00 in the course of our stay. This came out of our loose change fund that we cashed in earlier this week. We are not big gamblers. Our usual plan is to go in with $40.00 each and leave when that is up significantly or gone entirely. Lynn put in some spare one dollar bills, turned that into a $22.00 win and played through all of that over the course of two hours. I started off with $25.00 and blew all of it over the course of the morning. I’d go up and down, with the biggest hit being $8.00. We pretty much had the non-smoking section to ourselves and it was a relaxing time. At the end of the day, we put $35.00 into somebody’s paycheck there. So somebody gets to keep their house.
