how is it already mid-november? in some ways this year has been the slowest ever, but in others ways it’s just been a blurrr!

so let’s see.. i ran my half marathon on 10/30 and beat my previous personal record by 5 minutes or so .. my new PR is 1:52:07 for 13.1 miles, which was a very happy accomplishment for me. I had IT band pain at mile 11, AGAIN, but somehow figured out a way to power through it and finish on schedule, so YAY. after the race we celebrated with a bit of wine and watched the vikings win their, um, second game. woo. a bit later that day aaron and i got new tattoos… we each got "eleven eleven" in script on our arms in white ink, and he also got 11.11.11 on his left wrist in honor of our 11th anniversary.
speaking of, to celebrate our anniversary we headed to palm desert on 11/9 and stayed at our friends’ desert home for a few days. we got massages, pedicures and manicures and had happy hour each day and lounged around by the pool. it was lovely loveliness. we headed back to LA on 11.11.11 and enjoyed dinner at ink. it was seriously – so awesome. when we first arrived we were told that it would be a few minutes and that we could grab a drink at the bar. the hostess then said, "happy anniversary." which was odd because — neither of us TOLD them it was our anniversary. so then we were seated and we were examining the drink list when the server brought out two glasses for wine. weird, since we hadn’t indicated that we would be ordering wine. aaron then told him that we were celebrating 11 years on 11/11/11 blahblah and the server was like, yeah i saw that and thought it was pretty awesome. aaron and i looked at each other like, huh? saw it where?? he left and returned moments later with a bottle of sauvignon blanc and said "someone’s MOTHER called in and thought you might enjoy this bottle of wine with your dinner…" so mystery solved! how cute of my MIL to do that! then he came out a short while later with two champagne glasses. whoa, more from my MIL?? but nope, the guy sitting next to us overheard the server and sent out some really nice champagne for our anniversary as well. SO NICE! we were absolutely loving it. so before we even ordered one thing, we had a bottle of wine and two glasses of champagne sitting in front of us.. for free! whee. the rest of the dinner was just fabulous — i wrote a review for yelp here.
after dinner, we headed over to grab our doggies from aaron’s mom and had selected a bottle of wine from our honeymoon stash to share with her. it was a 1989 niebaum coppola rubicon, which was cool because 1989 is actually the year we first met. so the bottle of wine was literally as old as our relationship. and it was SUPER good… i normally prefer sauv blan these days, but it was nice to enjoy this bottle with some fancy chocolate and reminisce about our wedding and honeymoon …. ahhh.
the next day we had scheduled our massage lady to come over and do 90-minute massages and it was such a lovely cap to several days of awesomeness.
ANYWAY. work has started heating up and things are clipping along at a lovely pace, which is a huge relief as we enter into full-blown holiday season. i’m actually hoping to score a project with my previous company which will allow me to work with some of my favorite ex-co-workers and secure a nice chunk of change for the old savings account.
other things are bubbling and seeds are being planted… more to come on those items in the (hopefully) near future…
xo
Wow, that sounds like an awesome time! Congrats, you two!
